On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM, Alert SouthBay and regional partners, including the El Segundo Fire Department, will conduct a LIVE Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) test throughout the South Bay ahead of FIFA World Cup 26 ⚽

📱 During the test, your phone, smartwatch, or tablet may:
🔊 Make a loud alert sound
📳 Vibrate
📢 Read the alert aloud
📲 Display a test message

This is ONLY A TEST. No action is required.

The regional exercise helps emergency agencies:
✔️ Evaluate emergency alert systems
✔️ Improve regional coordination
✔️ Test alerts on international mobile devices ahead of FIFA World Cup 26
✔️ Increase public awareness of emergency notifications

At approximately 9:00 this morning, the Chevron Refinery experienced an unplanned flaring event. There will be intermittent safety flaring while the unit is repaired. ESFD is monitoring the situation and there is no threat to the public.

This past weekend, Fire took home the win in the 2nd Annual Battle of the Badges hockey game with a 9–7 finish 🏆.
