Southwick House Providing transitional housing and supportive services to
Emporia and surrounding communities for the next 100 years.

Our mission is to empower individuals and families to develop skills to achieve and maintain independence through transitional housing and supportive services. For 100 years, Southwick House (formerly Plumb Place) served the housing needs of single women in the Emporia and surrounding communities. The generous gift of Carrie Southwick Plumb’s home provided stable, affordable, and safe housing for the most vulnerable of populations. Maintaining a 100-year-old National Register Historic Property combined with limitations on service to only single women brought about change to the organization and service model. In
2023, Southwick House completed a reorganization of mission and embarked on a capital campaign to build a new facility for the next 100 years of service to our most vulnerable populations. For more information about Southwick our timeline and services please visit www.southwickhouse.org

This is the Southwick House non-congregate unit. It will be like a small efficiency apartment with a bathroom, kitchenette, and washer/dryer. Most of Southwick House is congregate living, which means folks will have a private space for sleeping and their belongings, but the kitchen, bathrooms, and other spaces are shared.

This small space is going to have a big impact on families that we work with. We can’t wait until it’s ready!

Support Southwick house during the Emporia Community Foundation Match Day to help us open our doors!
