Today we celebrate Records and Property Specialist, Gary Shewman, on his 22nd service anniversary.

Gary joined EPD in October 2004 as a public safety dispatcher and served in that role until September 2008 when he was appointed as the Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police. In July 2024, his position was reclassified to Records & Property Specialist to better align with his day-to-day job responsibilities.

He has earned the respect of everyone throughout the organization because of his many positive attributes that he demonstrates on the job every day, not to mention being the best dressed in the organization! In 2023, Gary was recognized by his co-workers as the first recipient of the Department's Civilian Employee of the Year award.

Thank you, Gary, for your continued dedication and service to EPD and our community!

THANK YOU to all of our First Responders!

Today, on National First Responders Day, we honor the men and women who answer the call when others need them most.

To our firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, and all first responders—thank you for your courage, compassion, and commitment to serving others. Behind every response are hours of training, time away from family, and a willingness to face the unknown.

To the families who stand behind them, thank you for your sacrifices and support.

We appreciate you today and every day.
