If you plan to attend the Mountain Ale Club Brew / Learn to Homebrew Day in November we also hope to press some very local pears for a batch of Perry! We picked what we could today and one variety is measuring at 17.8% brix which gives them an alcohol potential of 10% ABV!

The Mashers are planning to charter a bus for the 2027 Hill Farmstead Harvest Festival of Ales & La**rs!

The event is scheduled for Saturday September 18th, 2027 and in order to attend you must have a designated driver, which is why we’d like to book a bus.

We’re currently looking at a 38 person bus with a bathroom and would be leaving from the Black Flannel parking lot at 9:30am and returning around 6pm.

A seat on the bus would likely be between $75 and $100, and you would need to buy your own festival ticket which was $75 plus fees this year.

So, the question for our members and followers is: How many of you would potentially be interested in a seat on the bus? We’re just looking to gauge interest at this point, not looking for firm commitments. If this sounds like something you’d like to do in 2027, please drop a comment and let us know. Cheers!

Mark your calendars! Our friends at Chapin Orchard will once again host their c***r crush on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24. This annual tradition has been around for approximately 30 years and is an event c***r makers look forward to year after year. The c***r costs $9.50 per gallon and the Mashers will be on hand Saturday the 24th to answer questions about c***r making and give away a variety of different c***r yeasts.

The Mashers always look forward to attending the Vermont Brewers Festival and this year did not disappoint! Many of our club members were there and many delicious b**rs, and cocktails, were enjoyed!

The 12th Annual Champlain Valley Homebrew Contest is around the corner! Volunteers, judges and stewards can register now and entrants can enter their b**r, c***r and mead starting July 1st.
