Crazy Critters Inc. Crazy Critters Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Non-profit Organization. Who are Crazy Critters? Ken and Cherrice Purvee have been working together since 2001.

This FWC Amnesty location is also contracted partners with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division, neighboring county animal programs, and the community. We have been making raising plants and animals as natural as possible a life motto. For the past few years, always open to adopting exotic animals. Making people feel secure knowing their loved pet has a happy forever home. Mostly Tortoises and Turtles call Crazy Critters home. What makes us unique is that after adoption, Crazy Critters continues to share the lives of the pets on social media. Providing an additional continued connection. Our missions are:

To end exotic pet abuse, neglect, and misunderstanding through responsible pet ownership education. Promote conservation, rules, and regulations. Help the State of Florida with invasive species issues. End capturing of all wild animals for the food and pet trade. Educate the community about the environmental niches for native and invasive species of plants or animals. Provide healthy diverse species of turtles that will help conservation through captive breeding programs that will eliminate the need for poaching wild specimens.

I placed our Lisa the YBS into her new enclosure and heard her keepers worry that she had never eaten live food. I ain't worried at all, and it is a common thought.

Turtles have strong, primitive instincts, like how sea turtles head toward the ocean immediately after hatching, using the Earth's magnetic field to navigate and engaging in natal homing.

Well, they've evolved over 100 million years without parental care. So, there's that. Please click through to read more...

We would like to thank Swan's Feed Mill for reaching out to us after they had a phone issue to ask if we were ready to place our regularly scheduled order.

Today, I harvested some plants while placing a few new turtles into quarantine. I was puzzled because I can not find contact information for my newest adoption, and I always try to keep it for future updates, so if you surrendered this Selewisi Box turtle, let me know! This is an unnamed Bearded Dragon that was surrendered by a keeper experiencing health issues and couldn't properly care for the lizard.

It's not like they did not try. I think they really loved the dragon. In fact, they built it an outdoor cage in hopes they could keep it.

I don't use the word 'cage' too often. Ken and I try to build 'enclosures' that can provide enrichment at the same time as protection.

The keeper built a cage in hopes of the same thing for this dragon; however, there was one huge issue.

Material. The wire mesh they used caused a terrible nose rub that has taken nearly 3 months of treatment to heal.

It is a wonderful reptile with an amazing personality. While it was a rough start, it has become a very fun specimen to feed. Almost as if he appreciates the commitment. Check out the comments below 👇 to see an early photo of the damage...
