We do this to ensure a safe, healthy environment in which to reside, work, and enjoy life. The men and woman of the Exeter Police Department value:

QUALITY SERVICES - We work to anticipate and prevent problems; we will listen to concerns and respond accordingly; we will seek innovative solutions; and we will respond to issues with fairness, sensitivity, and compassion. COOPERATION - We actively seek and encourage community involvement in all aspects of policing by way of ideas, opinions, and joint actions. We recognize that more can be accomplished when actions are taken collectively rather than individually. PROFESSIONALISM - Our personal standard for conduct shall be viewed as exemplary to others. To achieve this we shall: individually and collectively promote self discipline, take pride in our accomplishments, recruit and hire the best people, and train, educate and develop our employees to their highest potential. COMPETENCE - We assure the tasks set forth will be accomplished in the most effective manner. We encourage reasonable risk-taking and are tolerant of honest mistakes. We will address and correct behavior which is contrary to the primary mission of this agency, and will recognize and reward good performance. INTEGRITY - We are honest and truthful and will hold ourselves to a higher standard of moral and ethical conduct. We value the reputation of this agency and will collectively act to prevent abuses of the law and violations of civil rights. We will continuously pursue these ideals in all our actions. We are "Committed to our Community"

👮‍♂️ Introducing the Exeter Police Department’s First Class of Master Patrol Officers! 👮‍♀️

The Exeter Police Department is proud to announce the appointment of four Master Patrol Officers, a newly established role within our department designed to provide mentorship and leadership to our less experienced officers while providing front-line supervision when a sergeant is not present.

Collectively, our four Master Patrol Officers bring more than 12 years of experience each with the Exeter Police Department, serving in a variety of roles including detectives, field training officers, and instructors. Each officer successfully completed a testing and selection process and has maintained a record of good standing within the department.

Please join us in congratulating our department’s first class of Master Patrol Officers:

Detective Bailey Texieira
Detective Michael O’Connor
Officer Michael Ingenito
Officer John Suglia

Their experience, leadership, and commitment to the Exeter Police Department will be invaluable as they take on this new responsibility and help guide the next generation of officers.

Congratulations to all four and thank you for your continued service and dedication to the Exeter community! 🚔

A little glimpse into Exeter’s past…

This photograph from the 1950s captures an Exeter police officer taking a moment for a photo along Swasey Parkway, with the Exeter River providing the backdrop. If you look closely, you can see what appears to be students from Phillips Exeter Academy’s crew team rowing on the river.

More than 70 years later, Swasey Parkway remains one of Exeter’s beautiful waterfront spots where residents and visitors can still slow down, enjoy the river, and take in the character of our town. And just around the corner, Phillips Exeter Academy continues its long tradition on the water, with its boathouse still located at the eastern end of Water Street.

Summer temperatures may be winding down for the season, but there’s still plenty of good weather ahead. Take some time to get outside, enjoy the river, walk the Parkway, and appreciate the community we’re fortunate to call home.

Thank you to the residents and Town employees who joined us this morning at the Exeter Police and Fire Station for our 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.

Members of the Exeter Police and Fire Departments represented our community’s first responders as we gathered to reflect, remember, and honor the lives lost and the courage demonstrated on September 11, 2001.

We are grateful to our reflection speakers:

Select Board Chairperson Niko Papakonstantis
Police Chief Timothy “Josh” McCain
Fire Chief Justin Pizon
Fire Chaplain David Lennox

A special thank you to Fire Deputy Chief Jason Fritz, who conducted a solemn bell-ringing ceremony in remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence, allowing our community to pause together in remembrance and reflection.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped us honor the memory of September 11th. We will never forget.

👽🛸 The 2026 Exeter Police UFO Festival Patch Has Landed! 🛸👽

Reminder we will be selling our 2026 Exeter Police UFO Festival commemorative patch—our 5th annual limited-edition patch created especially for the Exeter UFO Festival!

Patches will be available starting at 8:30 am Saturday, September 5th, during the 2026 Exeter UFO Festival for $10.00 each. We have only 500 patches available, and once they're gone, they're gone! Limit 2 per customer

Every dollar raised goes directly to supporting the Exeter Police Department's Comfort Dog Program, helping cover the costs of Maple's food, veterinary care, and the supplies she needs to continue bringing comfort to our community.

The 2026 Exeter UFO Festival, organized by the Exeter Area Kiwanis Club, is a major fundraiser that benefits local children's charities, youth programs, and community initiatives, with 100% of festival profits supporting these important causes.

The festival commemorates the anniversary of the famous "Incident at Exeter," which occurred on September 3, 1965. On that night, 18-year-old Norman Muscarello reported seeing an unidentified flying object behind a barn in Kensington. Responding Exeter Police officers investigated and also witnessed the mysterious object, making the Incident at Exeter one of the most well-known UFO cases in American history.

Whether you're adding to your EPD patch collection or purchasing your very first one, we hope you'll stop by our booth, support Maple, and say hello!

👽 See you at the 2026 Exeter UFO Festival!

🚧 Roundabout Project Update & Back-to-School Traffic Notice 🚧

The Front, Linden, and Pine Street Roundabout Project is nearing completion. However, due to a concrete additive shipping delay, the planned reopening has been tentatively rescheduled to Thursday, September 3rd (weather permitting).

As Monday marks the first day of school for the SAU 16 community, the updated schedule has been communicated to school officials and local bus companies.

For everyone's safety:

🚓 Police officers will be present to assist with traffic flow
🚸 Crossing guards will be stationed in multiple areas to support Lincoln Street School foot traffic
↔️ Gill Street will remain two-way traffic
🚗 Motorists should continue to follow the established traffic detour routes
🚶 Pedestrians will be permitted through the area with the assistance of flaggers

To improve traffic flow during the delay, the road closure area will be modified to allow traffic access up to Seminary Ln.

⚠️ Drivers are asked to use extra caution on Monday. In addition to traffic detours, students, parents, buses, and school staff will be adjusting to first-day-of-school traffic patterns.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as the contractor works to complete this important project.

Large Police Presence in Exeter and Hampton Areas Following Report of Stolen Vehicle

At approximately 3:59 p.m., the Exeter Police Department was alerted to a report of a reckless operator traveling eastbound on Route 101 and reportedly exiting the highway at Exit 12 in Exeter.

Officers were advised that the suspect vehicle had reportedly been stolen from Atkinson, New Hampshire, earlier in the day.

Within minutes of receiving the call, an Exeter Police officer located the vehicle abandoned on Hampton Road. Witness information indicated that the vehicle had been abandoned only a short time before officers arrived, leading officers to believe there was a high likelihood that the suspect or suspects could still be in the immediate area.

Exeter Police Officer Kennedy and his K9 partner, BoBo, cleared a nearby barn before beginning a canine track. The track ultimately led officers toward the area of Ashbrook Avenue.

As the investigation and search continued, a large police presence was established in the general area, including portions of Exeter and neighboring Hampton, out of an abundance of caution. The Hampton Police Department provided a second K9 team to assist with the search.

The Exeter Police Department also received multiple reports of a suspicious male dressed in black running in the areas of Warner Lane in Hampton and Phinney Lane in Exeter, both of which are in close proximity to where the stolen vehicle was located. The individual was located and identified by police and was determined not to be involved in this incident.

At this time, no suspect has been located or identified. The investigation remains ongoing.

The stolen vehicle was towed to the Exeter Police Department and has since been returned to its rightful owner.

The Exeter Police Department would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance during the search:

Kensington Police Department
Hampton Falls Police Department
Rockingham County Sheriff's Office
New Hampshire State Police
Hampton Police Department

The Exeter Police Department appreciates the public's cooperation and assistance during the response. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Exeter Police Department.
