FAYETTEVILLE CITY COUNCIL: PASS A DATA CENTER MORATORIUM NOW!

The city council‘s newest trick play to ignore the people’s demands for a data center moratorium was bringing in a lawyer to propose we regulate data centers as WAREHOUSES?!?!

Clearly, city council is not on our side. It’s going to take MASS PRESSURE from THE PEOPLE to protect our city from hyperscale AI data centers.

💥TRUMP TO SPEND BILLIONS ON FORT BRAGG NUCLEAR REACTORS, WHILE LOCALS FACE HIGH BILLS AND BLACKOUTS💥

Trump and Hegseth’s Janus Program will dump $2.2 billion of our tax money into the construction of nuclear micro reactors at select military bases—including Fort Bragg. This will ensure the war machine can still operate at full scale while everyone else struggles with skyrocketing energy bills and scrambles without power in the instance of grid failure.

“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! NO MORE WARS!”

Military family members speak out about the impacts of war on their families and call for an end to all US wars of aggression, including Trump’s war on Iran. Veterans and military families have had enough of endless wars for profit, both abroad and at home!

These speakers participated in a women-veteran led antiwar demonstration organized by Common Defense at Fayetteville’s Freedom Memorial Park, right across from the Airborne and Special Operations Museum.

FAYETTEVILLE APPROVES $17 MILLION SURVEILLANCE TECH CONTRACT

Tonight, after essentially no notification to the community of this agenda point, no public forum or opportunity for community input, and at the very end of an over 3 hour meeting, Fayetteville city council approved a $17 million, 6 year contract with Axon for a slew of surveillance technology.

Fayetteville’s city council continues to ignore the concerns and demands of its people, including for resources and investments that would actually get to the root of crime and provide real solutions for public safety. Instead, they choose reactive approaches that invade our privacy, give more power to an already militarized police force, and spend our tax dollars on “solutions” that only line the pockets of Big Tech.

We must fight for a new system that empowers our people to implement solutions that ACTUALLY improve public safety, knowing that WE KEEP US SAFE!

“IM TIRED OF WAR PROFITEERS MAKING MONEY OFF THE BACKS OF THE DEAD AND WOUNDED”

Army veterans who attended Saturday’s antiwar demonstration in Fayetteville know all too well that the United States’ endless wars are driven by profit. Meanwhile, working class people—service members and civilians, at home and abroad—bear all the costs. These vets urge all veterans and all people of this nation to stand up to oppose all US wars!

This protest was organized by women veterans from Common Defense as part of “Operation Take Up Space” to speak out against the US’ endless wars of aggression, including the war on Iran.

Trump and Hegseth’s newly announced Project Janus will contract private companies to build nuclear micro-reactors on military bases across the country, including Fort Bragg. Our tax dollars will pay these corporations to produce energy with risky nuclear technology to power the war machine, all while our community faces skyrocketing energy prices and frequent blackouts.

The only serious solutions to ensure that EVERYONE has access to clean, safe energy is socialism. Working people should have the power to determine how we produce energy and how we use it!
