I was honored to sponsor the resolution establishing the Dr. Cecil Edward Floyd Memorial Award for Community Involvement and Engagement at today’s City Council meeting.

Dr. Floyd’s philanthropic contributions to our community are second to none. His generosity and commitment to making a difference have left a lasting impact on Florence, and through the Dr. Bruce and Lee Foundation, that legacy of giving continues to this day.

It is a privilege to help recognize someone whose life and work exemplify what it means to invest in others and strengthen our community. Dr. Floyd’s legacy is one worth celebrating and carrying forward for generations to come, inspiring future recipients of this award to continue his tradition of service and generosity.

As someone living with a spinal cord injury and a significant disability, this one hits close to home. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to find healthcare providers and facilities equipped to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Accessibility shouldn’t be an afterthought in healthcare—it should be part of the equation from the beginning.

Since my injury, I’ve experienced firsthand how even routine healthcare can become complicated when a facility or provider isn’t equipped to accommodate someone with a significant disability. Having a clinic specifically designed to serve patients with special healthcare needs right here in Florence is a tremendous step forward.

This is exactly the kind of healthcare investment we need in Florence—bringing more specialized services closer to home and making our community a better place to live.

MUSC Health is opening an accessible dental and oral care clinic in Florence as part of the medical school’s first dental residency program outside of Charleston. (Full story below.)

Hearing that voter turnout in Florence is very low. Make sure you get out and vote during these final few hours and make your voice heard!

No matter who you support, don’t fail to exercise your right to vote. Your voice matters, and every vote counts. This race will be integral to the future of South Carolina.

I am proud to endorse my friend, Congressman Russell Fry, for the United States Senate.

Having someone from the P*e Dee representing South Carolina in the Senate is incredibly important. Our region has tremendous potential, but we need a leader who understands our communities, our industries, and the opportunities and challenges we face. Russell has never forgotten where he came from, and he has consistently fought for the people of the P*e Dee and all of South Carolina.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Russell personally, and I can say he is a man of integrity, hard work, and genuine character. He is a principled conservative who will continue to fight for economic growth, a strong national defense, individual liberties, and the values that make South Carolina such a great place to live and work.

I’m honored to call Russell a friend, and I’m proud to give him my full endorsement for the United States Senate. I hope you’ll join me in supporting Russell Fry and helping send another strong conservative voice from the P*e Dee to Washington.

Like so many South Carolinians, I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham.

Senator Graham leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service to our state and our nation. His impact on South Carolina is difficult to overstate. From national defense and military advocacy to infrastructure, economic development, and constituent service, he fought tirelessly for the people of our state for decades.

Here in the P*e Dee, and especially in Florence, Senator Graham was a consistent advocate for our communities, our businesses, and our future. His office was always willing to engage with local leaders, help solve problems, and work to bring opportunities to our region. The growth and progress we have seen across the P*e Dee over the years bears the mark of leaders who understood the importance of investing in rural South Carolina, and Senator Graham was certainly one of them.

Before serving on City Council and as Economic Developer of Marion County, I had the privilege of working in Senator Graham’s office. That experience gave me a firsthand look at what public service can and should be. Seeing the difference one elected official could make in the lives of South Carolinians inspired me to run for office myself, and the lessons I learned during that time continue to guide me every day.

I will always be grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside him and to have witnessed his dedication to the people of South Carolina.

Please join me in praying for his family, his staff, and all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.

Tomorrow is Election Day for the Republican runoff, and I encourage everyone to get out and vote.

I am proud to personally endorse Alan Wilson for Governor and Senator Mike Reichenbach for Lieutenant Governor.

As a Florence City Council member, I value leaders who are committed to public safety, economic opportunity, and strengthening our communities. Alan Wilson has demonstrated those qualities throughout his service to South Carolina.

I am also especially proud to support Senator Mike Reichenbach, a personal friend and fellow Florence native. Mike is a man of integrity who cares deeply about our state and the people who call it home.

Tomorrow’s runoff election is important, and every vote matters. I hope you’ll join me in supporting Alan Wilson and Mike Reichenbach and in making your voice heard at the ballot box.
