Aspire Music Therapy, LLC

09/23/2026

We are one week out from our Internship Application Deadline! We have two spots open for our January 2027 start date! 📢

Aspire Music Therapy is a National Roster Internship Site. We’re a private practice located in Fort Wayne, IN working with a wide range of ages and clientele.

What sets Aspire apart?
- We have a wide variety of clientele we work with - ID/DD (of all ages with additional mental health diagnoses, physical disabilities, speech disorders, etc), hospice, nursing home groups, and other community opportunities as they come up! Interns are able to receive a well-rounded learning experience.
- We have a team of 7 strong music therapists, with several approved to be national roster internship supervisors. Interns have the opportunity to learn from multiple therapists consistently to get exposure to a variety of perspectives and skills. We also have spots for two interns each start date, so interns may have a peer during their internship!
- In order to help interns adjust to full-time clinical work, we have a tiered schedule to introduce clients, documentation, and assignments. We think this best sets up interns to adjust to the change in schedule from college life and promote effective learning.
- We help interns prepare for the CBMT exam with dedicated study time and resources provided.
- We are happy to discuss the option of flexible scheduling, if part time is needed.
- We provide a $2500 stipend over the course of the internship.
- Our internship experience is tailored to the intern’s learning objectives and needs, as much as we’re able to accommodate.
- We have a beautiful clinic space that interns have access to work throughout the week! Fully stocked with snacks 😉

I love Rhythm Band Instruments, LLC ‘s resonator bells! They are such a crisp, pleasant sound and I love that they are individual pieces I can move around as I need for our clients. Add in the multitude of boomwhacker play along videos on YouTube, and you’ve got a quickly prepped music experience to address fine motor skills, color identification, visual tracking, executive functioning… the list goes on. 🎶

There are SO many boomwhacker play along videos, I even found a Green Day one for Wake Me Up When September Ends. You can pair this with songs like this with discussion, sensory / reality orientation, and anything else that fits the theme.

Happy Fall!

Do you remember to use this song on the 21st of September?

I made a songwriting template for this years ago and still pull it out every year. The full version examines seasonal changes and events. It's a great way to provide some reality orientation, sensory stimulation, discuss transitions, and be excited for the fall time!

Who couldn’t benefit from music therapy? 🎤

I hope I’m as cool as her someday 🕶️

We looooove some adapted music around here, using it for therapeutic lessons, recreative music therapy, and even improvisation! We’ve brought this to the drum set recently by adding our floor dots to each drum face. They’re durable to drum on and can be used to color code either printed music / visuals or in giving verbal directives. Hope this helps you rock out! 🤘

Another summer & another sweet visit with Kate from Kate Shannon, LCAT, LCPC | Creative Arts Therapist . I have long admired Kate for her wisdom, creativity, and I’m thankful to get to call her a friend too. She’s often one of my team’s go to resources for music therapy supervision & I’d highly recommend all of her online materials and podcasts!

Make friends with other professionals, it’s very much worth the investment!

Pokémon cards, but make it music therapy?

I’m always SO impressed by the creativity of our team - one of our therapists came up with the idea to customize Pokémon cards on Canva to include musical responses when played. If you look closely enough, each musical response also corresponds in some way to the Pokémon’s appearance or powers.

What Pokémon would you add to the deck?
