It feels like we're living through the world's largest game of musical chairs.

The Texas Rangers moved from Globe Life Park to Globe Life Field.

The Dallas Mavericks and Stars both are moving North.

The Dallas Wings are headed to downtown Dallas.

The Fort Worth Convention Center is getting a makeover.

And somehow, when the music stopped, Keller ISD ended up sitting in the American Airlines Center for the Natatorium.

At least that's what it feels like. We're not saying they're actually putting a swimming pool at center court, but if Luka's old locker room suddenly smells like chlorine, don't say we didn't warn you.

We’ll see you at state Keller High Baseball!

05/30/2026

Today at 2:30 p.m. at Dallas Baptist University, Keller High and Rockwall will meet one final time with a trip to the State Championship on the line.

For the players, it’s a chance to keep a dream alive.

For the Keller ISD community, it’s a chance to gather around a team that has given us plenty to cheer about this spring.

And for Coach Stramp, it’s one more chapter in a remarkable baseball life.

Coach Stramp has been leading Keller Baseball since 1998. Long before that, he was part of a National Championship team at UT as a player in 1975. Generations of Keller students have passed through his dugout and classroom, learning lessons that reached far beyond baseball. He has over 700 career wins as a head coach, and we've been told this will be his final season of teaching and coaching.

Today isn't the end of the story, but it is one of those afternoons you'll want to say you were there for. So come out to Dallas Baptist University. Bring your family. Wear blue. Fill the stands.

First pitch is at 2:30.

The winner goes to the State Championship.

Let's help Coach Stramp and Keller High get one step closer to shaking hands with destiny and bringing home the first baseball state title in school history.

The Keller High Baseball team hit a bump in the road Thursday night, falling to Rockwall 5-2 in Game 1 of the Class 6A Division I State Semifinals. A few early mistakes proved costly, but this team didn't get this far by backing down from a challenge.

Now it's time to show up.

Game 2 is tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Horner Ballpark on the campus of Dallas Baptist University. If necessary, Game 3 will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

These players and coaches have worked all year for this opportunity. Let's pack the stands, make some noise, and let them know their community is behind them every step of the way.

The road to winning Texas isn't always smooth.

Every time someone says schools are “pushing an agenda,” We wish they could see something like Steve Hartman’s Kindness 101 lessons with CHARACTER COUNTS!.

You know what teachers spend a lot of time “teaching”?
Kindness.
Empathy.
Responsibility.
How to treat people.

That’s the big secret happening in public schools every day.

Not everything important shows up on a test score. Sometimes the best thing a school does is help kids become decent human beings.

We could use a little more of that right now.

The K-Cal kids built a tiny home. Pretty impressive. Built well, and decorated beautifully.

Also worth keeping an eye on: the district’s transition to as the new cafeteria provider.

Also, as we mention at the April Board meeting, “The board approved Whitsons Culinary Group as the new provider.” It appears there is more than meets the eye here.

We’ve now heard concerns from 3 different cafeteria employees regarding the upcoming transition. It took us some time to put together their concerns regarding the district’s upcoming food service transition. Based on information currently being shared from staff to us, employees with fewer than 15 years in KISD would move to the new company, while only about 40 of roughly 230 kitchen employees would remain district employees.

Employees have raised concerns about:
• Loss of accrued leave days
• Changes to PTO and holiday pay
• Questions about insurance coverage
• Moving from TRS to a 401(k)-style plan
• Long-term job security

There are also concerns that experienced managers may leave for neighboring districts or retire early rather than go through another major transition.

The district will likely point to financial savings and operational efficiency, but many employees feel these changes could come at the cost of stability and benefits earned over years of service. Many staff members say they are still waiting for clearer answers as the transition approaches. Many of these people are beloved members of the community.

After complaining about SRO prices, Chris Coker recently was invited to meet with Fort Worth PD and Councilman Lauersdorf regarding SRO costs. In case you can’t click on the link, Charlie also invited beloved board member Chelsea Kelly, who of course showed up.

Once again, Click on the clearly labeled links below to see who else join this visit.

One thing that continues to be overlooked is that the state required districts to place an SRO on every campus, but did not fund the mandate.

Councilman Charlie Lauersdorf Post about it: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1ANQps7mBL/

Chelsea Kelly, post about her visit https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1B8te3jXJU/

Chris's Post about it:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1G2VbDrSpH/

Everyone wants safe schools. Most people support having SROs.

Our frustration comes when the school board complain about rising costs while remaining largely silent with state leaders about funding the mandates they continue to pass.

How many times do we need to see a photo of Nate Schatzline with Charles, John, Micah and Chris and that conversation is never brought up? Never a public call to action to their state lawmaker? Hey Nate or Gio, put forth a bill requiring funding for SROs. How hard is that to do? Call them out publicly to do it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally… the natatorium saga continues.

Chris Coker recently took a group of “concerned dads” and business owners into the natatorium to personally inspect filters and rooftop units.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BCSyyRgZt/

Which naturally raises the question, was this the same gang of dads that convinced him to draft that resignation Facebook post back in January after Bro brunch?

At some point, Keller ISD probably needs to decide whether the natatorium discussion is going to be handled through engineers and facilities experts or through unofficial field trips and poolside advisory committees.

Have a great summer, everybody.
