Communities flourish when we invest in the people and places around us.
They grow when people care enough to plant seeds for the future, supporting education, families, local nonprofits and the everyday heroes who serve our community.
That’s the work happening through United Way of Tarrant County, and last year it helped reach nearly 400,000 people across Tarrant County.
Together, we’re helping our community take root and flourish.

Quiet in the office but making a big impact behind the scenes, meet Sean Bowman, UWTC's senior accountant!
Day-to-day, Sean helps ensure UWTC is on track financially through reporting, journal entries and account monitoring, which allows our organization to continue responding to our community’s greatest needs.
While he often works behind the scenes, Sean notes a core memory of his time at UWTC, when our organization responded to last summer's six-alarm Cooper Apartment Fire, which displaced more than 800 residents. UWTC joined local leaders to launch a relief fund, helping raise and distribute more than $100,000 directly to those impacted. "I could see and feel the gratitude and relief felt by the residents, even though I wasn't physically present when the funds were handed out at our office," he said.
While Sean brings a calm and steady presence to the office, he also has a competitive side. Fresh off winning the UWTC staff fantasy football league championship honors this past season, he plans to “enjoy the victory until September” before turning his attention to defending the title.
Fun fact: Before working with numbers, Sean lived at high speeds. He began racing go-karts in his hometown of El Paso, TX, at just 11 years old. He later moved up to cars and won the 2011 street stock season championship at El Paso Speedway Park!
We’re grateful for everything Sean brings to UWTC and lucky to have him on our team.
