Today at the Fresno County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board recognized longtime County employees, highlighted important awareness efforts, and took action on several community issues.
We recognized Sylvia Rodriguez of the Fresno County Public Library and Chun-Hsiu Hsu of the Department of Behavioral Health, each for 23 years of service to Fresno County.
The Board also unanimously proclaimed October 2026 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and recognized October 6 as Pink Day and October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Fresno County.
A major discussion focused on Waterworks District 40 and Shaver Springs, where residents continue to face serious water-quality and affordability concerns. The Board discussed options for providing relief while protecting existing state funding and making sure any County approach is fair to other County service areas and water districts facing similar challenges. Staff will continue working on options and return to the Board with additional recommendations.
The Board also approved funding to support the Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial Foundation, continued work on County waste-hauling service agreements, and handled a number of additional County operations and public-service items.
Thank you to everyone who attended, spoke, or followed today’s meeting. We’ll continue working to make sure District 2 residents are heard and kept informed about the issues affecting our community.

Today, we gathered at the California 9/11 Memorial to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to recognize the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who answered the call in our nation’s darkest hours.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken that day, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

The passage of time does not diminish our responsibility to remember what happened, honor those we lost, and share their stories with future generations.

May we never forget the courage, sacrifice, and unity America showed in the days that followed.

When justice and public safety come together, communities are stronger.

Congratulations to Chief Deputy District Attorney Kendall Reynolds and Commander Michael Johns of the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office, our 2026 State of the County Public Safety Heroes!

Their work represents the dedication, collaboration and determination it takes to protect Fresno County. From investigating complex cases to pursuing justice for victims and holding those responsible accountable, Reynolds and Johns have played an important role in keeping our community safe.

Together, they were instrumental in Fresno County’s landmark first jury conviction in a fentanyl-related homicide case — a case that demonstrated the impact of bringing skilled prosecutors and investigators together in the pursuit of justice.

Their commitment doesn’t stop in the courtroom or at the scene of an investigation. It is about protecting lives, supporting victims and making Fresno County a safer place for everyone.

We are proud to recognize Chief Deputy Kendall Reynolds and Commander Michael Johns as our 2026 Public Safety Heroes.

Come hear more about their work and celebrate their contributions at the 2026 State of the County Luncheon on September 24, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Fresno Convention Center.

🐾 Today is Fresno County Board of Supervisors meeting day! 🏛️

The Board is scheduled to meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Hall of Records to consider items impacting Fresno County residents.

Among today’s presentations is Agenda Item 4, recognizing Fresno Humane Animal Services’ Pet of the Month — and this month’s featured pup is Freddy! 🐶❤️

Freddy is a 3-year-old Labrador Retriever mix looking for a loving home. He may be a little shy at first, but with patience, kindness, and maybe a treat or two 🦴, he quickly warms up and shows off his sweet personality.

Thinking about adopting? 🏡 Adoptions are just $25, and Freddy will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated before heading home.

🏛️ County business.
🐾 A great local program.
❤️ And maybe your new best friend.
