Do women regret their abortions? Obviously some do, but the reasons for their “regretting” them often isn't what you might be led to believe.

Consider these statements from a recent study* of 114 women who had chemical DIY abortions:

“[It] is a traumatic experience that can include physical pain, emotional distress, and lasting feelings of isolation for which they desire help, but most don’t know where to turn.”

Note carefully what is “regretted”: The abortion is described as an unpleasant experience for the woman. But guilt over the fact that she murdered her child is conspicuously left unmentioned. As one woman put it, her DIY abortion “was 100 times more painful than [I was] told. It took over 12 hours to completely expel the tissue. It was so much more traumatic than a surgical abortion….”

Folks, this kind of “regret” is analogous to the “regret” felt by those whose only remorse is for themselves (for having been caught by law enforcement), not for the innocent victim whose life they brutally took.

So when someone tells you “most women regret their abortion”, ask them how come they don't regret it enough to quit making abortion the number one method of homicide year after year.
