This week, we had the opportunity to celebrate our wonderful Ombudsman volunteers and recognize the dedication, compassion, and advocacy they provide to residents in long-term care facilities every day.
We also want to thank Dan Moreno, representative from the office of Assemblyman David J. Tangipa, for joining us at our Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon and recognizing our volunteers for the meaningful work they do.

May is Melanoma Awareness Month, an important reminder for us to prioritize skin health. Did you know that Medicare Part B may help cover important skin-related medical care? Early detection matters. If you notice changes in your skin, talk with your healthcare provider about whether an evaluation is medically necessary and covered under your Medicare benefits. For more information on Medicare Part B benefits, give HICAP a call at 559-224-9117 or 800-434-0222. Visit our website www.valleycrc.org/hicap.

Advocacy can make all the difference. When concerns were raised about a resident’s uncomfortable wheelchair, the Ombudsman stepped in with the resident’s consent to advocate for her needs. A new wheelchair brought renewed comfort, improved mobility, and support. Every resident deserves dignity, comfort, and a voice.
