Today, I had the opportunity to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Fresno Police Department's new K9 Kennel Facility. Our canine officers now have a safe and modern space for their training, resting, and preparation to serve our city.

Our K9s play an important role in supporting public safety, and this new facility ensures they have the resources and care they have always deserved. It was great to see the handlers and many of our four-legged officers who help keep Fresno safe every day.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible and for your continued commitment to public safety in our city.

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the unveiling of the Henry L. Thompson Memorial Art Gallery at Fresno Yosemite International Airport. It was a very meaningful moment to see Henry’s family witness this recognition honoring his leadership, vision, and lasting impact on the future of our airport.

Although I barely knew Henry personally, I can still see his legacy through the continued growth and expansion of our airport. This gallery will serve as a reminder of the lasting impact that dedicated leadership and long term vision can have on our community.

Over the past several weeks, my office and I hosted several townhall meetings across District 5, making sure we stopped by all communities: Roosevelt, Calwa, Sunnyside, and Fancher Creek.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend, ask questions, and share feedback about the issues impacting our community. Your participation and input are critical in helping us better understand the needs and priorities of our neighborhoods.

As we now prepare for the upcoming City budget hearings, my office and I will keep the voices of District 5 at the forefront. How we invest our city resources reflects what we value as a community, and I remain committed to advocating for District 5.

As always, if you need assistance from my office, or have additional comments you would like to share, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Today, I was proud to present a proclamation recognizing May as National Bike Month. This month is a reminder of the many benefits biking brings to our community, from promoting healthier lifestyles to improving air quality and expanding safe, affordable transportation options throughout Fresno.

Last Friday, I also had the opportunity to participate in the City’s 4th Annual Downtown Bike Ride. It was great to see residents of all ages come together to enjoy our city and appreciate the progress being made to create safer and more connected streets for bicyclists and pedestrians.

Thank you to the Active Transportation Advisory Committee, Public Works staff, the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition, the Black Chamber of Commerce, and all of the community partners who helped make these efforts possible. I look forward to continuing to support a more bike-friendly Fresno.

It was an honor for me to attend the unveiling ceremony recognizing the addition of new names to the Hmong Veterans Memorial. It meant a great deal to help contribute a small part to ensuring these veterans and their sacrifices continue to be recognized and remembered.

Honoring those who fought for our freedom is the very least I could do. Their courage and sacrifice are the reason I am able to stand here today as a Councilmember.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible for our community and future generations.

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Student Commons at Sanger West High School. I was honored to be there not only as a former school board member and Councilmember, but also as a proud parent.

The vision for this school began before my time on the school board, but I am grateful to have played a small part in helping bring it to life and to now see it all come together. From the very beginning, the vision was for Sanger West to be a place where students felt excited, welcomed, and inspired to come to school each day, and I truly believe that has been accomplished.

I also had the chance to get a sneak peek of the future gymnasium, and I cannot wait to see its completion. Go Hornets!
