Firefly Park broke ground today on what is going to be a specular development. With 45 acres of parkland intertwined within, it’s going to be a beautiful area.
The ceremony today reflected on the incredible work Frisco has been doing to build a prosperous, thriving, and engaged community. It was heartwarming to hear our partners share in the vision we see for Frisco, today and in the future.

This morning was the annual Memorial Day ceremony hosted by the Frisco VFW, their Auxiliary, and the Frisco Garden Club at Frisco Commons Veterans Circle. Frisco Community Band and Chorale performed patriotic songs to honor our military and country, and VFW Post Commander John Miller gave the keynote by sharing stories about two people, a family member and a soldier he served with, who lost their lives while serving in our military. When the entire crowd takes the time to speak the names of those who they personally knew who lost their lives, it’s a solemn reminder that our freedom is not free. We are blessed to live in the United States of America, and I’m eternally grateful for those who gave their life for our country. 🇺🇸

Thank you to our Frisco voters for re-electing me to City Council. I re-affirmed my oath of office at last night’s Council meeting and look forward to serving you for the next 3 years.

Special thank you to my husband and parents who have been my biggest supporters, both during the campaign and in life. ❤️

Wow! I am so grateful to Frisco voters for sending me back to Council for another 3 years. For everyone who volunteered, donated, or prayed for me during this process, I cannot thank you enough. Even if you didn’t vote for me, I am here to represent you as best as I know how. Please reach out if there’s anything I can do to support you. ❤️ ~Laura

April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness month, a topic rarely talked about because of how horrific the thought is. There are so many incredible organizations who help to serve our community alongside our Police Department by advocating for the kids during the judicial process and helping the kids to heal after. A few examples are Children’s Advocacy of North Texas, Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center, CPS, and CASA. I had the opportunity to personally thank and recognize Foster Friends, DFPS and Empower with a Certificate of Recognition for the work they do every day towards this issue, but want to publicly thank anyone involved in helping to spread awareness on the topic and helping to end the cycle of abuse and neglect.

A BiG day in Frisco! We finally broke ground on Phase 1 of Grand Park. Long day in the making with a long list of people who helped make it happen. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who put their time and energy to help us get here!

Last night, I was invited to attend one of our Mayor’s Youth Council members, Hajoon Yun’s Independent Study and Mentorship final project presentation. His topic…Political Polarization. He interviewed people in many levels of government and political parties.

A high school senior identified that our society is getting more polarized because we are losing the ability to communicate, see another perspective, and compromise.

His recommendations were spot on:
- Check the sources, especially when someone has something to gain.
- Take social media with a grain of salt. The algorithms don’t support collaboration and not everything you see is real.
- Get out and vote for the people who best reflect your values. Choose leaders you would want yourself or your kids to emulate.

These young adults continue to impress me with their discernment and their insights. Wise words from an 18 year old.
