Whether the property YOU listed is for sale, for lease, or both, you really need to respond to communication attempts when other agents are trying to schedule a showing.
When the ONLY way to schedule is via YOUR phone number, even though the listing has all the “Showing Service” info on it, please be prepared to respond!

Look, I could have looked past ALL of the red flags.
I could have made no attempt to locate the real owners.

I could have, but that’s not me.
I continued to have the fraudsters email me. I even spoke to them on the phone, for less than 3 minutes.

Little did they know I was researching the property.
Tax records.
Real owners.
Speaking to the agent from the purchase from several years ago.
Speaking to the title company who closed the file.
Researching any ties to the real owners.
Several phone calls.
Several emails.
This all started in February.

Then BOOM!
I received an email this weekend from the actual owner.

I took the time to follow my gut.
I took a little time to make sure I was doing some due diligence.
I didn’t take the “listing”.
I didn’t sell this property.

What I did get, self-respect.
It’s not always about the bottom dollar and “getting the sale”.
It’s about being a decent human being and doing what’s right.
Doing what’s right as a REALTOR®.
Doing what is right for the customer and our industry.

Who you work with matters!
And sometimes, who you DON’T work with matters.

As 2025 comes to a close, I’m feeling incredibly grateful.
This year was a roller coaster — full of changes, growth, and unexpected turns both personally and professionally. I’m so thankful for the families who trusted me with their homes and their family homes. Being part of such meaningful moments is something I never take lightly.
