A beautiful sunset, great company, and a mission that matters!

One of the highlights of our Sunset & W**e event was getting to spotlight the Galveston Police Department’s Drone Unit! Thanks to the generosity of our community and supporters, the Galveston Community Police Foundation has been able to provide two drones to help equip our officers with valuable technology as they serve and protect our island. This is what community support looks like in action — coming together, investing in our police department, and helping provide resources that make a difference.

There’s nothing better than bringing a community together!

Galveston’s annual Night Out is a great reminder that building safer neighborhoods starts with building relationships. It’s about getting out, meeting your neighbors, connecting with our officers, and showing the next generation that our community is here for them.

Here’s Chief Balli taking a moment to connect with some of our younger community members. These conversations, big and small, help build trust and strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the people they serve.

One of the great outcomes of our Sunset & W**e event was the funding of a new K9 vehicle for the Galveston Police Department!

Thanks to the generosity of several donors who came together to support this project, the Galveston Community Police Foundation is proud to help make this investment possible. It’s a great example of what can happen when our community comes together to support the officers who serve us every day.

A K9 team is an important part of the department, helping keep officers safe, protect the community, and respond to situations where these specially trained teams make a real difference.

We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed to making this happen. Your support helps the Galveston Police Department continue doing the important work they do for our island community.

Thanks to the generosity of Mary & Gordon Morse and Cathy Abernathy, another public safety dry suit for the Galveston Police Department's dive team has been funded!

This isn't just another piece of equipment. A dry suit helps divers safely operate in cold, contaminated, and hazardous water during rescue missions, evidence recovery, and other critical incidents. It keeps them protected so they can focus on the job at hand.

This is exactly what the Foundation was created to do—provide equipment and resources that help our officers do their jobs safely and effectively when those needs fall outside the city's budget.

On September 24th, members of the Galveston community gathered at "Sunset and W**e", a fundraising event to support the Galveston Police Department! The night was a resounding success (more on that to come) and a testament to what can happen when individuals recognize that community safety starts with all of us.

A big thank you to Lee and Laura Slataper for opening their home to us and hosting such a fabulous event, and to Concetta and her team for putting together such an amazing spread!

It was great to see officers from the Galveston Police Department’s Drone Unit and Marine Unit spending time with community members. Building these connections is what it’s all about!

The Galveston Community Police Foundation is proud to support the Galveston Police Department and the officers who serve our community. We’re grateful to everyone who came out, showed their support, and helped make this event such a success.

It's World Mental Health Day.

Today, we recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health — for everyone, including the men and women who serve our community in law enforcement.

Police officers often face high-stress situations and carry the weight of what they see and experience. Supporting their mental well-being is critical not only for them, but for the safety and health of our whole community.

The Galveston Community Police Foundation is proud to stand behind initiatives that strengthen officer wellness, provide resources for stress management, and encourage open conversations about mental health. Support us while we support them. galvestoncpf.org
