Today, on Black April, I remember the fall of Saigon and the profound loss carried by millions of families.
My father and my uncle both served in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. My uncle, an officer, was executed just days before Saigon fell. His life and the sacrifices of countless brave men and women ended in fighting for democracy and freedom, a war that reshaped our history and identity.
For my family, this day is not just about history. It is about courage, loyalty, and the cost of standing for what you believe in. It is about honoring those who fought, those who were lost, and those who were forced to rebuild their lives far from home.
We remember. We honor. We carry their stories forward.
