For over 120 years, the Sternberg Museum has been part of life in western Kansas and a destination for families across the state.

Parents who visited as children have brought their own kids back to see the exhibits like the fish-within-a-fish and to learn about the fossils George Sternberg, Marion Bonner & others found in western Kansas. Researchers know the collection around the world. For generations of Kansans, Sternberg is a valued institution.

But when Kansas has money, Ty Masterson chooses tax cuts for millionaires & then turns around & cuts programs Kansans rely on.

Earlier this year, he backed efforts to cut funding for Kansas universities & said the state needed to bring spending down partly because tax cuts for the rich were taking effect.

Now Fort Hays State University says the funding cut forced this decision.

Masterson wants to be governor. Kansans should look at what his priorities have already cost western Kansas.

Regulations for the new federal voucher program dropped today, and as we expected, they confirm our suspicions in several respects. The Kansas legislature should have waited for the regulations (as multiple states have done) so they could have had a more accurate discussion about what the program would and wouldn't do. We agree with this assessment from KASB.

I’m looking forward to discussing the issues with both Tracey Mann and Steven Jacobs on Monday in Hays. After having no events open to the public for nearly 18 months, I’m relieved to know that Mann has agreed to attend our forum.

If you can come to Hays on Monday night, please join us!
