As I have been knocking on doors in our community, I have appreciated hearing Forest Hills parents' and community members' views on our schools. Two weeks ago, I and other Hope College professors had the privilege of welcoming Hope College's largest freshman class ever during our convocation ceremony. Since that day, it's been a whirlwind as I've been helping students get settled into the business classes I teach at Hope College. My students know I expect a lot from them; I'm a life-long learner who brings the same focus on education excellence to Hope College that I would bring to the Forest Hills school board. As we recognize our nation’s workers this Labor Day weekend, it's the perfect time to celebrate the teachers and staff of Forest Hills schools. To all of the teachers, counselors, coaches, bus drivers, custodians, lunch ladies, office staff and administrators who do so much for our kids, thank you! PARENTS INSPIRED MY VISION FOR OUR SCHOOLS
Over the last few months, I've had lots of conversations with Forest Hills parents about our schools. My vision for Forest Hills Schools is an outcome of these conversations.

JACKIE'S VISION FOR FOREST HILLS SCHOOLS:
ALL KIDS have safe access to the HIGHEST QUALITY EDUCATION experience, so they can fulfill their true potential.

JACKIE'S PRIORITIES:
- Age-appropriate curriculum and materials that FOCUS ON THE FUNDAMENTALS of math, science, language and history and also build 21st century skills like collaboration, creativity and critical thinking
- EFFECTIVE, TIMELY COMMUNICATION with parents, the community, teachers & the administration
- TRANSPARENCY and access to curriculum, policies and Board decisions

Why I’m Running
I believe in the POWER OF EDUCATION to change a life. I find great fulfillment, as a college professor, in helping college students find their calling. I love to see martial art students in our family business become more focused and confident.
I want to give back. Our family is so GRATEFUL for the many skilled and caring teachers, coaches and staff who helped shape our sons into the young men they are today.
I believe I can help. Our district needs people on the school board with the RIGHT SKILLS who CARE ABOUT OUR KIDS and our community. My business skills in decision making, communication and management could contribute greatly.
