Elect Richard Weaver Greenbrier Mayor Greenbrier FIRST.

It’s simple.
“How will it affect the average citizen?”
“Will this be a net benefit for all?”
Smart growth, people over politics.

Forget campaign slogans for a minute. Picture Greenbrier 10 years from now.

I’m running a self-funded campaign because I want my decisions to be based on what I believe is best for Greenbrier, not on who helped fund my campaign. I’m not looking for corporate influence. I’m looking for the opportunity to serve this community and put the people who call Greenbrier home first🙌

So tell me, what’s one specific thing you hope Greenbrier creates, improves, or protects over the next 10 years?👀

Two terms on council have taught me that there’s usually more to an issue than what you see from the outside. Serving on council has given me a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our community, and it has reinforced my belief that Greenbrier is ready to keep growing and moving forward.🙌

If you could sit down with city leadership for one conversation, what would you want to discuss?👀

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a powerful tool to guarantee transparency in government, both large and small. It can reveal backroom deals made by dishonest actors out of the eye of the public by summoning records and documents of communications between government officials.
Despite efforts by some groups to weaken it, Arkansas has one of the strongest FOIA laws in the nation.
It can also subject to abuse. I was talking to a friend of mine who is the mayor of a town smaller than Greenbrier. His staff was tasked with gathering over 400 pages of documents to satisfy one such request at the cost of many hours of taxpayer funded labor. The person in question never even bothered to pick it up.
A request made during an election campaign as a “fishing expedition,” is unconscionable, more so if the requesters know better.
I pledge as I have been, to be open and honest with the citizens of Greenbrier, the voters, my longtime friends and supporters. Honest about my reasons for serving, and our mutual goals for the city, especially what we can and cannot do on our budget.
Years after this election, I hope to be remembered by winning honestly or losing with dignity. Greenbrier is our home, and that means more to myself and Lisa than a tagline.

The city council decided to move forward to solicit bids for the promised amphitheater in Matthews Park this evening. Several of your council expressed support, but reservations about the planned number of parking places.
There is still work to do with regard to what will yet be included in the plans, but additional bids will be sought to add additional parking spaces on the west side.
We rarely have enough parking for events in the park with guests’ cars spilling onto side roads, Lifesong Church’s lot, and even across Hwy 65. I would like to see at least 100 more in addition to approximately 50 which are planned for the east side on the drawings.

Gameday! It’s not all about politics…at least to some of us. At the risk of offending a couple of Texas A&M fans,
tell me your best Aggie joke!
I’ll start:
A Razorback fan walks into a bar and yells who wants to hear an Aggie joke? The bartender looks him up and down and points at fellow in the corner who is built like the incredible Hulk, then to a rough looking biker type dude at the end of the bar, then pulls his sleeve up to reveal a Texas A&M tattoo. He said “We’re all Aggie fans. Are you sure you want to tell that joke now?”
The man replies, “Thanks for the warning. I think I’ll reconsider. I don’t want to explain it three times.”

How do we move forward without losing what makes Greenbrier great?

That’s exactly the kind of conversation I want to have🙌 We don’t need to tear everything apart. We need to build on what’s working, improve where we can, and bring the community into the conversation.

That’s the kind of leadership I’m running for. As your next mayor, I want to build on what makes this community great and make it even better!

What’s one thing you love about Greenbrier that you never want to see change? 👀

Let’s be honest. You don’t build a great community overnight.

Some of the people who have been here the longest are the same people who helped make Greenbrier what it is today. They raised families here, built businesses, served their neighbors, and invested in this community for decades🙌

They’ve earned a seat at the table. And they deserve to be heard.

As Greenbrier moves forward, I want to see us create more opportunities, more connection, and a better quality of life for our seniors, too.

Moving Greenbrier forward means bringing every generation along with us!

As your Mayor, I’ll make sure every voice has a seat at the table, every generation is part of the conversation, and no one gets left behind.

I’ve never believed you lead by just talking about it. As Mayor, I’ll show up, do the homework, ask the tough questions, and make the decisions Greenbrier needs.

Give me the opportunity, and I’ll get to work.
