It was an honor to attend the celebration of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan’s birthday this February in Denver, graciously hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan in Colorado and Consul General Okajima Hiroyuki.
The Honorary Consulate of Romania in Colorado, was honored to be part of such a warm and meaningful evening, bringing together leaders and partners committed to international friendship and collaboration.

Events like these are more than a celebration—they are a conduit for building bridges across borders, deepening cultural understanding, and strengthening relationships.

Grateful for opportunities that bring our communities closer together and for the work the Consular Corps of Colorado's role in fostering a strong and vibrant global presence.

It was a real pleasure reconnecting with Mayor Mike Coffman of the City of Aurora, Colorado, and having such a warm, open conversation about our community and future collaboration.
Aurora is truly special—it’s the most diverse city in Colorado, and you can feel that richness in its people, culture, and energy. It’s inspiring to see how diversity brings people together and creates so many opportunities.
I was proud to represent Romania during this visit and to talk about ways we can continue building strong connections between our communities.
One of the highlights was seeing the Romanian flag included in the Gallery of Nations—a meaningful moment that reflects Romania’s place in Aurora’s vibrant international community.

✨ International Women’s Day | Celebrating Romanian Women Who Changed the World 🇷🇴

Today we honor remarkable Romanian women whose courage, brilliance, and determination broke barriers and opened doors for generations to come.

From science and medicine to aviation, law, arts, and sports, these pioneers proved that no field is beyond women’s reach.

🌟 Nadia Comăneci – The first gymnast in history to score a perfect 10 at the Olympics
🎨 Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck – Europe’s first female university art professor
🧬 Ana Aslan – Founder of the world’s first Institute of Geriatrics
🏔 Elena Ghica (Dora d’Istria) – The first woman to climb the Swiss Alps
🧠 Sofia Ionescu – The world’s first female neurosurgeon
⚖️ Ella Negruzzi – Romania’s first female lawyer

🍀 As we welcome the traditional first day of spring, in Romania we celebrate March 1st with the cherished tradition of Mărțișor.

🌿 Mărțișor, whose name comes from “Marț,” the old folk name for March, symbolizes the arrival of spring. It is a small decorative charm tied with a red and white intertwined cord. This special token is believed to bring good luck, health, and prosperity throughout the year. You’ll see thousands of unique “mărțișoare” in all shapes and designs, but the red and white string remains the heart of the tradition. They are most often gifted to women as a sign of appreciation and goodwill.

🇷🇴 January 24 – Unification Day of the Romanian Principalities 🇷🇴

Today we celebrate 167 years since the First Unification, the historic moment of 1859 that laid the foundations of the modern Romanian state, under the leadership of Alexandru Ioan Cuza.

The Unification was — and remains — a powerful symbol of solidarity, courage, and the Romanian people’s desire for unity.

May we continue to honor this legacy and remember that together we are stronger.

Astăzi sarbatorim 167 de ani de la Mica Unire, momentul istoric din 1859 care a pus bazele statului român modern, sub conducerea vizionară a lui Alexandru Ioan Cuza.

Unirea Principatelor Române nu a fost doar un act politic, ci o dovadă de solidaritate, curaj și speranță, o expresie a dorinței românilor de a fi împreună, mai puternici și uniți.

Să păstrăm vie această lecție a unității și să ne amintim că împreună putem construi viitorul.

La mulți ani, România! 🇹🇩

Magia sărbătorilor de iarnă s-a simțit mai românește ca niciodată în Colorado, la Consulatul Onorific al României.
A fost o onoare pentru noi să găzduim această seară specială de Ajun și să primim grupurile de colindători care au umplut atmosfera de lumină, tradiție și bucurie.
Mulțumim tuturor invitaților pentru bucatele tradiționale și RAFA - Romanian American Freedom Alliance pentru cozonacii autentici, cu adevărat cu gust de acasă.

Fie ca bucuria Crăciunului să vă lumineze inimile, iar bunătatea pe care am împărtășit-o aseară să rămână cu noi și să ne călăuzească peste încercările noului an. 🎄✨

The magic of the winter holidays was felt more Romanian than ever in Colorado, at the Honorary Consulate of Romania.
It was an honor for us to host this special Christmas Eve and welcome the caroling groups who filled the evening with light, tradition, and joy.
We extend our gratitude to all our guests for the wonderful traditional dishes, and to RAFA - Romanian American Freedom Alliance for the authentic cozonac that truly brought the taste of home.
