Since last week, we are already beginning to see pockets of trees in the Ramapo Valley County Reservation begin to shed all their leaves as we begin to move past the peak of our fall foliage season! 🍁 While there are still beautiful views in the park and much of mid-to-upper Bergen County, it seems like the recent cold snap is bringing the end of the season closer than some anticipated.

Don’t miss your final week to see the beautiful foliage at Ramapo Valley County Reservation, Campgaw Mountain, Darlington, and many other of our county parks! 🍂

Another week gone by and we're already seeing another massive shift in color! This shot captured by our Parks Department today shows how much has shifted, with several spots of color now clearly visible from above. Much of faded yellow from last week is already glowing red, with much more of the green slowly drifting out.

Estimates and models still anticipate for this area to peak by next week! So visit one of our Bergen County Parks for some great views and picturesque moments!

Do you have any foliage shots and videos you want to share? DM us or tag to have your photos shared on our page!

Our next installment in our Revolutionary War Roundtable will explore the Baylor Massacre, which is regarded as the bloodiest engagement to occur in Bergen County during the American Revolution.

The lecture will be presented by Edmund Moderacki, well-known local historian, reenactor, lecturer, musician and retired educator from the River Vale Public Schools. He has spoken on topics ranging from the Baylor Massacre to Art Music in Colonial America and to the Military and Musical History of The Star-Spangled Banner.

Please join us TONIGHT for another productive and insightful evening of exploring Bergen County's revolutionary past.

For generations of families, “We’re going to Van Saun” was enough to make a kid’s day.

Spanning parts of Paramus and River Edge, Van Saun County Park became a place for family picnics, playground visits, and afternoons spent seeing the animals.

Its children’s zoo opened in 1960, laying the foundation for what became the Bergen County Zoo.

In 1963, the park added its miniature railroad...the little train that would become a favorite part of the outing.

For a child, climbing aboard and settling into an open passenger car could feel just as exciting as seeing the animals.

Over the decades, the park grew and changed, adding attractions and updating its facilities.

The zoo, miniature train, picnic grounds, and playgrounds helped make it a place families could return to as their children grew
