I was deeply saddened about the loss of Army Reserve Specialist Cody Khork, a young service member from Polk County who was killed while serving our country in Kuwait.

While Cody was from House District 48, our communities across Polk County are deeply connected. Families throughout Districts 48 and 51 share the same pride in those who step forward to serve, and today we share in the grief of losing one of our own.

Cody answered the call to serve with courage and commitment. His sacrifice reminds us that the freedoms we enjoy at home are protected by brave men and women who put themselves in harm’s way for all of us.

My thoughts are with Cody’s family, his fellow soldiers, and the entire Polk County community during this incredibly difficult time. May we honor his memory by continuing to support the service members and military families who sacrifice so much for our nation.
