We all pay into the Community Preservation Act Fund with our annual CPA surcharge to property tax bills, so let’s put that money in play, rather than sitting in a bank account, and instead invest back into our community.

Hanover Community Preservation Committee Seeks Project Proposals by November 2, 2026

The Hanover Community Preservation Committee (CPC) is accepting new project proposals that support community preservation efforts in Hanover. Residents and organizations interested in applying for Community Preservation funding are encouraged to review the application guidelines and submit their proposals before the deadline, Monday, November 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM.

Applications, instructions, and additional information are available at Hanover-MA.gov/CPC.

All proposals must include the information requested in the application and any required supporting documentation.

Applications must be typewritten. Applicants must submit ten (10) copies of the completed application and all supporting materials, including one unbound, reproducible copy, to:

Hanover, MA 02339

Applications received after the deadline will only be considered if the applicant can demonstrate that a significant opportunity would be lost by waiting until the next regular funding cycle.

Reminder - calling volunteers! Enjoy the early Fall weather! Hanover is blessed with an extensive network of walking trails and open spaces. Some tracts are managed by the Wildlands Trust. One of these is the Melzar-Hatch tract. Work to repair the wooden platforms and bridges is targeted for tomorrow, October 6, 2026. See the link for details, and if you can help, it is much appreciated.

Join Wildlands Trust stewardship staff to replace and add to sections of bog boards along the trail at Melzar Hatch Preserve in Hanover.

Bylaw change in 2027? - Start now!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Bylaw Review Committee wants to remind residents that if you are considering proposing or amending a General Town Bylaw for consideration at the May 2027 Annual Town Meeting, the time to begin your work is now. To get started, check out the Bylaw Review Committee page on the Town's website found here: www.hanover-ma.gov/bylaw-review-committee . Start with the Bylaw Proposal Form found here: www.hanover-ma.gov/bylaw-review-committee/webforms/bylaw-proposal-form. The Committee will reach out to you and invite you to their next upcoming meeting. The Committee is here to help you create a strong proposal or provide other advice.

This year’s goal is to have proposals submitted by October 31, which will allow time for modifications or adjustments to be made in ample time for the final submission for the town warrant deadline of January 25th.
