Today we celebrate an incredible milestone—4 years in recovery for a current Resident , D.E.!

The first time I met D.E., his ringtone on his phone was "Somebody Save Me." At the time, it perfectly reflected where he was in life.
He was broken in every way imaginable, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

I was scheduled to pick him up from rehab, but he wasn't quite ready to leave, so they kept him another week. When I returned the following week, he was still apprehensive, but he was ready to restart his life.

What happened over the next four years has been nothing short of amazing.

At times I watched him struggle to walk two miles to work because he was determined to rebuild his life. All while His legs were badly swollen from the toll addiction had taken on his body, but he refused to let that stop him. He showed up every single day.

I've watched him heal physically. I've watched him grow spiritually. I've watched him rebuild relationships. I've watched him stay at the same job for nearly four years, buy a new car, and find peace in just living a simple, honest life.

The greatest part of his story is this: that ringtone said, "Somebody Save Me." In the end, through faith, determination, and the support of those around him, he became the person who saved himself.
He knew, No one could do the work for him. He chose recovery every single day.

Was it easy? Absolutely not.

But he got up. He showed up. He kept going.

Today, D.E. is living proof that recovery is real and that people can completely transform their lives if they keep going and don't give up.

We couldn't be prouder of you, D.E. Thank you for being an example of hope for everyone who walks through our doors.

Happy 4 years in recovery! Your Dominic House family loves you, celebrates you, and is honored to have been a small part of your incredible journey.

There is something special about finding your people.

A few of our guys rode their motorcycles to Ohio for a motorcyle event, and they sent me this picture because they were so proud. It wasn't just about the ride—it was about belonging. It was about being surrounded by people who understand where you've been, believe in where you're going, and remind you that recovery is something to celebrate.

This is what recovery looks like: fellowship, connection, purpose, and genuine joy. .

Today we Remember...

Black balloons day is in memory of those we have lost to overdose.

Today we remember them, speak their names, and continue the fight so fewer families have to feel this pain.

To Joel one of our longest residents is on his way

Four years, five months, and twenty-five days — what a journey it has been. Being our longest resident at The Dominic House is more than just a number; it’s a legacy you leave in every corner of this home.

You showed up every day with quiet dedication — whether it was keeping the house spotless with your unmatched cleaning skills, bringing energy to every sports conversation, or simply offering the steady kindness that helped make this house feel like peace lived here. Your organization kept us grounded. Your presence kept us calm. Your heart made this place warmer.

You didn’t just live at The Dominic House — you helped shape it.

While we will forever miss seeing you in these halls, we also know this moment is exactly what all the hard work was for. It is time for you to step forward and live the beautiful life you have worked so hard to build.

Go confidently, Joel. Carry everything you’ve learned here and keep becoming the man we have all been proud to watch grow.

The door at Dominic House will always be part of your story — and you will always be part of ours.

With love and deep respect,
The Dominic House Family 🤍

When asked about her son Anthony, who died from an opioid overdose, Gina remembers him as a great human being who struggled with a medical condition. People with addiction didn’t choose their diagnosis—but we can choose to support them on the journey to recovery.
