HEALDSBURG, CA - On October 13, 2026, officers with the Healdsburg Police Department conducted a pretrial supervision compliance check on 24-year-old Healdsburg resident Angel Avila.

Avila was actively subject to felony pretrial supervision conditions stemming from a recent Santa Rosa Police Department investigation. In that prior incident, Avila was arrested in Healdsburg by SRPD for felony fi***rm possession following a gang related altercation in Santa Rosa. Pretrial supervision allows a defendant to be released from custody without posting bail, contingent upon strict adherence to court mandated conditions. Given the nature of his initial arrest, Avila's release terms strictly prohibited him from possessing weapons of any kind.

During the compliance check, HPD officers located and detained Avila. A subsequent search revealed that Avila was in possession of three pairs of brass knuckles, two butterfly-style knives, and two fixed-blade knives.

Avila was transported and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on multiple weapons charges and for violating the terms of his pretrial release.

Compliance checks on individuals under court ordered supervision is a vital component of the Healdsburg Police Departments commitment to community safety.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered After Suspect Approaches Officer to Ask for the Time

HEALDSBURG, CA — On October 7, 2026, at approximately 8:22 AM, the Healdsburg Police Department was alerted by the Flock Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system that a stolen vehicle had entered city limits.

Officers immediately flooded the area to locate the vehicle. A responding officer spotted the vehicle crossing Memorial Bridge; however, the driver managed to evade contact before the officer could turn around.

A short time later, officers located the stolen vehicle parked and unoccupied near the Safeway Shopping Center. Officers maintained surveillance on the vehicle from a distance, monitoring it to see if the driver would return.

While officers were watching the vehicle, a male subject matching the physical description of the driver approached an officer on foot and asked for the current time. Recognizing the unusual nature of the interaction under the circumstances, the officer engaged the individual in conversation. The individual then asked the officer if he was looking for somebody.

The subject reported that he was from Santa Rosa and had parked his vehicle down the street, in direct proximity to the stolen car. After some more conversation, the officer asked what type of vehicle the subject drove. Following a brief hesitation, he stated that he drove a Mini Cooper, the same type as the stolen vehicle.

The individual was immediately detained. Following further investigation, the subject confessed to stealing the vehicle out of Santa Rosa. Multiple pieces of evidence linking the subject to the vehicle were found inside of it.

45 year old Nicholas James of Santa Rosa was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on motor vehicle theft charges. The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.

High-Speed Pursuit Leads to Arrest of Local Student Following "Fugitive Game" Incident

HEALDSBURG, CA -- On the evening of October 2, 2026, Healdsburg Police officers responded to the area near Healdsburg Junior High School following reports of a reckless driver. Initial reports indicated an occupant of the vehicle was potentially pointing a fi***rm out of a window.

Responding officers, cognizant of the unsanctioned "Fugitive Game" occurring locally that evening, exercised heightened caution while searching for the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle traveling at high speeds and performing hazardous maneuvers. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated sharply, exceeding speeds of 90 MPH on city streets as it fled from pursuing officers. Due to the severe risk to public safety, officers exercised tactical restraint and terminated the brief pursuit.

Following the incident, officers utilized the Flock Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system, as well as in car dash camera footage to identify the involved vehicle.

Through further investigation, officers identified the driver as an 18-year-old male Healdsburg High School student.

On 10-07-2026, 18 year old Ricardo Corona Acevedo of Windsor was subsequently taken into custody for charges stemming from the high-speed pursuit. Additionally, officers served a vehicle seizure warrant, resulting in the suspect's vehicle being impounded for 30 days.

Investigating officers confirmed that no real fi***rms were involved or displayed during the incident.

The Healdsburg Police Department remains committed to ensuring community safety and reminds the public that participating in hazardous games or reckless driving on public roadways poses a severe danger to the public and will result in strict criminal enforcement.

🚨 **SCAM ALERT: JURY DUTY & WARRANT SCAMS** 🚨

The Healdsburg Police Department wants to remind our community to be cautious of phone scams involving claims of **missed jury duty, outstanding warrants, or threats of arrest.**

Scammers may pose as law enforcement officers and tell you that you have a warrant because you failed to appear for jury duty. They may sound convincing, use official-sounding language, or pressure you to act immediately.

**Please remember: The Healdsburg Police Department will NOT call you to demand payment for a warrant related to missed jury duty. We will NEVER ask you to resolve a warrant by sending money, purchasing gift cards, transferring funds, using cryptocurrency, or providing payment information over the phone.**

⚠️ **Red flags to watch for:**
• Threats of immediate arrest if you don't pay
• Requests for gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or electronic payments
• Pressure to stay on the phone or act immediately
• Requests for personal or financial information
• Callers claiming payment will "clear" or "cancel" a warrant

If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from the Healdsburg Police Department, **do not provide personal information or payment. Hang up and contact the department directly through a trusted phone number to verify the information.**

Please share this information with friends and family—especially anyone who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.

**Stay alert. Stop. Verify. Don't pay.**
