On Monday, item 8.b. on the City Council agenda is: “Receive a presentation from SMART General Manager Eddie Cumins on construction updates and the Healdsburg Station Location.”

As a preview, here are the two station location renderings SMART staff presented to the SMART board on Wednesday, as part of their request for direction “to initiate public engagement on the consideration of the Healdsburg Station location.”…a decision that ultimately will be decided by the SMART board.

The next steps following Mondays meeting include a community Open House in October (similar to the one they just hosted in Geyserville), as well as a survey to gather potential ridership data, etc. SMART will then return to Council to share the results & gather final community feedback prior to the presentation to the SMART board.

Should be a good meeting. See you on Monday at 6 pm at City Hall 🙂

If you’ve ever considered serving on the Healdsburg City Council, this is a great opportunity! Now that we had to go to District elections, there are two Districts that will be electing a councilmember (1 from each) this November.

I’m always available to meet or answer questions about being a Councilmember, running a campaign, the fun stuff, the boring stuff and some of the really exciting stuff that has a huge positive impact on our community.

There will be at least one new Councilmember joining us…Maybe it’ll be you! :)

Council Nomination Period Open Today

If you want to run for a Healdsburg City Council seat in Districts 2 or 4, the filing period is open now, through August 7, 2026. To learn more (and to find your district) visit the City's Election Information page at https://healdsburg.gov/399/Election-Information

“Sweet Home Healdsburg” ❤️

GO HOUNDS!!! ❤️

The Principal of Healdsburg High School, Tait Danhausen (many of us fondly remember his grandfather Leroy Danhausen, a longtime teacher) recently reported this about our local high school:

In other news, the New York Times just published a long-term study on academic performance in public schools nationwide. While 83% of districts have seen a decline in student performance since 2015, Healdsburg Unified is part of the 17% that has seen an increase in test scores. Further, we sit in the top 25% of districts in the state of California for performance, and we do that with a population that is more racially and economically diverse than the vast majority of districts that sit ahead of us on the list.

Your feedback is welcome. Email [email protected] -and request a phone call or meeting if you wish.

Why no comments here? On social media, the opportunity to discuss posts openly is far too often exploited by off-topic commenters. It’s unfair to everyone -plus a one-on-one conversation is inevitably more impactful. I would much rather connect individually. I hope to hear from you.
