๐ŸŒพ Grain bin season is officially here. ๐ŸŒพ
Every year, the United States sees between 25 and 51 grain bin entrapment and confined space cases, leading to 22 to 30 fatalities. As grain bins are heavily utilized this season, safety is our top priority.
Our crew recently conducted hands-on training using our grain bin rescue tube and auger to ensure we are fully prepared for these critical situations.
Thank you to Zach Bender for educating us on how grain bin facility works and how to properly shut it down in case of an emergency situation and Slama Farms for providing the facility for us to train and further our education. This partnership helps keep our community safe!๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’๐ŸŒพ

๐Ÿš’ ๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire Prevention Week at Hillsboro Elementary! ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿš’

Our crew had a great time spending the day with the students at Hillsboro Elementary School as part of Fire Prevention Week!

Captain Layne Hammer, Firefighter Jim Muller, Firefighter Brett Muller, Firefighter Jesse Dickrell, and Firefighter Pat Sullivan went over valuable lessons about fire safety and prevention.
Teaching fire safety at a young age helps build awareness, confidence, and safer habits that can last a lifetime.
Thank you, Hillsboro Elementary, for having us!
And remember, a little fire safety knowledge can make a BIG difference!

We have been steady keeping our wheels turning this past month, balancing community events, training, and emergency responses.

Here is a look at what our dedicated crew has been up to:

โ€ข ๐Ÿ“† Monthly Meeting: We discussed department business, plan for the future, and stay organized.

โ€ข ๐Ÿ— 73rd Annual Labor Day Celebration: A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Hillsboro Firemen's Memorial Park! From the parade to our famous chicken dinners, your support makes a difference- Thank you!

โ€ข ๐Ÿš Monthly Training: Our members stayed sharp this month with hands-on practice focusing on vehicle extraction techniques and setting up safe helicopter landing zones for emergency medical transports.

โ€ข ๐Ÿ“ž Answering the Call: In between it all, our crew responded to multiple calls throughout the community, staying ready 24/7 whenever we were needed.

We appreciate everyone in Hillsboro and the surrounding areas for your continued support!

September 11, 2001 โ€“ We Will Never Forget ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, we pause alongside our community and the entire nation to mark the 25th anniversary of September 11th. We remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost on that tragic day and honor the unmatched courage of those who answered the final call.
As firefighters, we carry a deep and permanent reverence for our fallen brothers and sisters. We remember the 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority police officers who selflessly ran toward danger and made the ultimate sacrifice to save others.
We also acknowledge the thousands of first responders and families who continue to carry the heavy physical and emotional scars of that day and its aftermath.Their bravery and dedication to service define the very core of our profession. We promise to uphold their legacy, protect our community with that same unwavering resolve, and ensure their sacrifices are never tarnished or forgotten.
To the fallen, the survivors, and the families forever changed: We stand with you, today and always.

Huge shoutout to firefighter Jonathan Schrock for an awesome performance at the Kendall Derby. Johnny took 7th place out of 22 competitors in the Chain N Go group.
It was a great run, especially for your very first time competing. Way to represent, Johnny!

This is a very fitting picture as we continue through our busiest part of the year. A very busy ๏ฟผLabor Day weekend, after just getting done with Charity Pull weekend, and everything else that is asked of the guys. Just wanted to take a minute to do a huge shout out to the ones in all of our lives that allow us to make everything happen. To all the wives of the Hillsboro Fire Dept thank you for all you put up, being a part of this crazy fire family! (Not able to tag, Brayvyn Hammer, Kay Hofmeister)
