🚒 GAS LEAK RESPONSE – OASIS OF HOLLY 🚒

On Saturday, the Holly Fire Department responded to a significant gas leak at Oasis of Holly that required a coordinated response from numerous fire, EMS, utility, and emergency management partners.

Due to the nature of the incident, approximately 50 patients were safely evacuated from the building while crews worked to identify and control the hazard. Two patients became ill during the incident, with one patient transported to Henry Ford Grand Blanc for further evaluation and treatment.

We want to recognize the outstanding response and teamwork from our mutual aid partners:

🚒 North Oakland County Fire Authority (NOCFA)
🚒 Groveland Township Fire Department
🚒 Fenton City Fire Department
🚒 Grand Blanc Township Fire Department
🚒 Independence Township Fire Department
🚒 Springfield Township Fire Department

Our EMS partners from STAR EMS and Patriot Ambulance provided valuable assistance with patient care and the evacuation process.

We also extend our appreciation to Oakland County Emergency Management for their assistance and coordination and to Consumers Energy for their quick response to the scene and work to address the gas emergency.

Once the hazard was controlled and the building was thoroughly evaluated and cleared for re-entry, patients were safely returned to their rooms.

An incident involving the evacuation of approximately 50 patients requires tremendous coordination, communication, and teamwork. Saturday's response was an excellent example of why our mutual aid system and regional partnerships are so important. Multiple agencies came together quickly with one goal: protecting the residents, staff, and community.

The Holly Fire Department would like to thank every firefighter, paramedic, EMT, emergency management representative, utility worker, facility staff member, and assisting agency who helped bring this incident to a safe conclusion.

We are extremely proud of the professionalism displayed by everyone involved and grateful to have such outstanding partners available when our community needs them.

Strong partnerships. Coordinated response. One mission — protecting our community.

HOLLY INVITES COMMUNITY TO 25TH
ANNIVERSARY 9/11 DAY OF REMEMBRANCE &
COMMUNITY DAY
Community encouraged to come together to honor the fallen, support first responders
and veterans, and connect with health, mental health, safety and community
resources
HOLLY, MICHIGAN — On Friday, September 11, 2026, the Holly community will come together to
commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with a special 9/11 Day
of Remembrance and Community Day at the Holly Fire Department, 414 N. Saginaw Street.
The event will run from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM, with the formal remembrance ceremony beginning at
approximately 8:30 AM.
This event is about more than remembering what happened 25 years ago. It is about remembering the
people who were lost, honoring those who answered the call to serve, and bringing our community
together in the same spirit of unity that Americans demonstrated following September 11, 2001.
At 8:46 AM, the time the first aircraft struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, members of the
community will begin reading the names of the 343 FDNY firefighters who gave their lives on September
11, 2001.
As each name is read, an American flag will be placed in that firefighter's honor.
343 names. 343 flags. 343 lives of service and sacrifice remembered.
The ceremony will include bagpipers, the Holly High School Marching Band, remarks from the Holly Fire
Department Chaplain, the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silence, and participation from community
leaders and representatives.
Following the reading of the 343 names, VFW Post 5587 and American Legion Post 149 will render honors
to the fallen with a ceremonial gun volley followed by Taps.
At the conclusion of the remembrance ceremony, attendees are encouraged to remain at the fire station as
the event transitions into a Community Day focused on health, safety, wellness, veterans, families and
the resources available to the people of our community.

Community Day is intended to provide something useful for families, seniors, veterans, first responders,
children and residents throughout the Holly area.
WHY WE NEED THE COMMUNITY TO SHOW UP
Twenty-five years have passed since September 11, 2001.
There is now an entire generation of young people who were not alive when the attacks occurred.
That makes gatherings like this increasingly important.
We encourage parents to bring their children.
We encourage veterans to attend.
We encourage current and retired firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, healthcare
professionals and members of the military to stand with us.
We encourage our local businesses, schools, churches, organizations and residents simply to come
together.
For those who remember September 11, this is an opportunity to ensure the stories and sacrifices of that
day continue to be passed to the next generation.
For younger members of our community, it is an opportunity to see what remembrance, service and
community look like.
4
This is not about one fire department, one organization or one group.
It is about remembering the 343 FDNY firefighters who went to work on September 11, 2001, and never
returned home.
It is about remembering the thousands of innocent people who lost their lives.
And it is about remembering how Americans responded afterward — neighbors helping neighbors,
strangers helping strangers, and communities standing together.
Twenty-five years later, we have an opportunity to demonstrate that same spirit here in Holly.
COME FOR THE REMEMBRANCE — STAY FOR THE
COMMUNITY
The 9/11 Day of Remembrance and Community Day is open to everyone.
You do not need to be affiliated with the fire service, military or Village government to participate.
Come for the ceremony.
Bring your family.
Stand beside our first responders and veterans.
Stay and meet the organizations serving our community.
Donate blood.
Learn about mental health resources.
Get connected with health and veterans' services.
Learn about railroad and emergency preparedness safety.
Meet the people and organizations working every day to make our community stronger.
Most importantly, help us show that 25 years later, Holly remembers.

Today, the Holly Fire Department, along with firefighters from several neighboring departments, participated in an outstanding live-fire propane emergency training provided by the Michigan Propane Gas Association.

The training included hands-on experience with a variety of propane-related emergencies, including residential propane tanks, large bulk storage tanks, propane appliances, and gas line incidents. These realistic scenarios allowed firefighters to sharpen their skills in hazard recognition, firefighting tactics, and emergency response in a safe, controlled environment.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Michigan Propane Gas Association and their instructors for providing such a valuable training opportunity. We also appreciate the neighboring departments who joined us today. Working and training together strengthens our partnerships and helps ensure we’re prepared to provide the highest level of service to our communities when it matters most.

Thank you to everyone who made today’s training a success. Please enjoy a few photos from the day! 🚒🔥
