It is with great pride and deep reflection that I want to share some thoughts on my early days of active duty in the United States Air Force. Those formative years were a time of incredible growth, challenge, and discovery—moments that have profoundly shaped who I am and how I view our mission.
When I first donned the Air Force uniform, I was filled with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. The transition from civilian life to active duty was both exhilarating and daunting. I remember the rigorous training at Officer Training School—where every day was a test of endurance, mental acuity, and resolve. It was here that I learned the true meaning of teamwork, discipline, and leadership.
The camaraderie among my fellow cadets was something I had never experienced before. We were bound together by a common purpose and a shared commitment to serve our country. The friendships formed during those early days have lasted a lifetime and remain one of my most cherished aspects of my career.
My first assignment took me to [specific base or location], a place that was both foreign and fascinating. I recall the sense of awe as I stepped into the operational environment, ready to put my training into practice. The challenges were immediate and intense, but each obstacle was an opportunity to learn and grow. I was fortunate to be mentored by seasoned officers who guided me with patience and wisdom. Their leadership and example were instrumental in helping me navigate the complexities of my new role.
The work was demanding, often pushing us to our limits, but it was also incredibly rewarding. I remember the pride in working on missions that had a real impact, knowing that our efforts contributed to the safety and security of our nation. The early days of my career were filled with moments of accomplishment and, of course, moments of doubt and struggle. But through it all, I found that perseverance, adaptability, and a steadfast commitment to our values would see us through.

Who you have in your life affects what you have in your life. You can’t walk with fools and expect success. You are the sum of the 5 people you hang around with the most. When Samson hung out with Delilah, he died. Some friendships lead to death!

Our Guard Airmen with the New York National Guard had the distinct honor of carrying on the presidential wreath-laying tradition for former President Chester Arthur.
As part of this long-standing tradition, service members ceremoniously laid a wreath from the current president on Chester's final resting place on the 194th anniversary of his birth.
