Tonight will be a rough night. We lost a beautiful lady to cancer and other health conditions. Everyone has said that as her foster mom, i gave her the best gifts possible, but Eve-a gave our family the greatest gifts. I will always love her and miss her. Due to other' generosity and kindness, she we were able to end her suffering in our home, where she knew saftey, love and peace. She passed in my arms today at 2:30pm. I know she knew she was loved. I know shes now in a better place with no more pain and suffering, and that she will always be in my heart with me. Even though shes not physically with us, i still feel her presence, peeking at me through the door, or around the corner of our couch. I will miss our snuggles and cuddles and begging teddy bear eyes when we eat and shes looking for a treat. I gave her the greatest gift i could and began my suffering so hers could end. She is at peace and will be coming home in a few days to be with us always. Thank you all for your kind words and generosity during this tough time. I love you Miss Eve-a, my stinky dirty birdy......goodbye until we meet again.

It is with a heavy heart and tears running down my face, to let everyone know that we will be helping Eve-a cross over today. Shes no longer eating or drinking nor getting up, although i dont think she has the energy to do so.

Because of your support, we will be helping her cross with dignity and in peace, in the comfort of her home, on her bed.

Thank you all for your support and allowing me to give this angel girl a lifetime of live in six short months.

UPDATE: it is with a heavy heart that i type this, trying to hold the tears back and keep my chin up. Miss Eve-a did not get a good prognosis at the vet today. We will know more tomorrow when her labs come in, but it looks like cancer and heartworms are going to take the life of another precious pup. They believe she also has a lesion on her brain, causing the seizures and confusion in her. All we can do now, is try and keep her comfortable and cross as much off her bucket list as we possibly can. Hold you pets tight, remember to give them their monthly heartworm meds and give Eve-a a small prayer as she begins her transition. The vet was not able to give a time table as to when she will cross over. It could be weeks, it could be months. However long it is, we will take each day as a blessing that we get to spend another moment with this sweet girl.

As we look toward the future, plans need to be set into place. This sweetie spent too many dark nights cold and wet and without love. I have made the promise to her that we will NEVER do that to her. Ever. Period. Because of this promise, I am saving for cremation, so she can have a place with us at all times. If you'd like to donate to this cause, please let me know. We still need to cover her vet costs from today as well. Please make donations to the paypal address below for her vet visit. i am going to try to set up something separate for final resting costs.

Miss Eve-a hasn't been feeling well for a while now, and has a steadily decreasing appetite. I had to give this pretty girl a haircut to see the extent of her weightloss, and, sadly it was worse than i thought. Trying anything and everything i can to get her weight back up, but we are struggling. Please keep miss Eve-a in your thoughts and donate if you can to her medical fund.

All donations can be made via PayPal account [email protected] please mark that the donation is to go to Eve. Checks can be mailed to:

Eve's Journey from Trash to Treasure 12/14/2015

Eve's Journey from Trash to Treasure When the animal control officer is your best friend, you’re having a very bad day. The night the BARC truck stopped in front of Eve, she was beyond caring what happened to her. It was near LBJ Hospital, full dark outside that night and pouring down rain. Eve was exhausted and it had been way too...

Eve-a's results came in from her biopsy. She is CANCER FREE!!! This is not to say that she will not get cancer again, but all cancer has been removed. There was a lump found on her uterus, and, thank goodness, that lump was benign. According to the vet, she has a very good prognosis and will lead a comfortable life.

Only a few more days till Miss Eve-a gets her "cone of happiness" off....we refer to it as that, because she is getting the medical care she needs and is in a loving and comfortable environment where she is receiving nutrition she needs to heal and has a soft, warm bed to lie her head down on and sleep. Sometime later this week she will get her stitches out and will be free to roam the back yard. She has been unable to do so, so dirt won't get into her incisions. Shes my dirty birdy and LOVES to lie in my boys digging area and get filthy!! lol

We still are short on donations to pay for her surgery. Please feel free to share and get the word out there for this gal. Lets band together and help the wonderful ladies who helped rescue Eve-a, and not have them pay for the brunt of the surgery.

Eve-a got through her surgery with flying colors. Was up and eliminating by 6pm! Prognosis is good, so far. Tumors were sent off to be biopsied and we should get results within 2 weeks. A lump was found on her uterus and a tumor was for sure found on her mammary glands. Once biopsied, we will know what kind of cancer it is and how aggressive it is, but other than that, she's doing good and should heal and have a great life. Doc said to "keep doing what you're doing," and that "Eve-a is thriving with the care she is receiving." So, going to get things ready for her return tomorrow. Things just aren't the same without her here!!!

Eve-a eating her breakfast before she heads off to the vet. She will be having her surgery tomorrow. Please if you'd like to make a donation, it would be much appreciated, as her vet care is costly. Please follow this link to Eve-a's YouCaring account. https://www.youcaring.com/eve-a-baby-441440

We say goodbye to Eve tomorrow for a few days. She will be greatly missed, but knowing she in good hands at Stafford Oaks Hospital is consolation.

She is doing better, ever since starting her joint supplements. Prancing around and tail up and wagging at dinnertime.

Things wont be the same without her here, but she is going to get some much needed surgeries to better her life. If you'd like to help with the costs of these surgeries, it would greatly help, and Eve-a (and our family) would be very grateful.

Eve is doing well today. She is refusing all food last night and today. I cannot even get her to eat a slice of cheese (her fave treat)....hoping everything is ok. on pins and needles to get this golden girl started on the road to health.

Eve was rescued from doomed euthanasia, thanks to several wonderful ladies, this "golden girl" can live the rest of her life happy and well loved, with a soft place to sleep and a full belly.....and LOTS of love and petting and hugs. She will NEVER have to know the streets again! She is going to be a foster with us for as long as needed. She has found her way into our hearts, and I cry every time i look at her sweetness and get so mad that someone would treat her the way she had been treated. She was rescued from BARC, who believes she is to be 10 years old and approximately 30 lbs as of right now. She is heart worm (low) positive. She will need long term love and care to get her back to her beautiful self.... She was destined for euthanasia yesterday, but today is destined for love and happiness. Please continue to peek in on her journey to health and happiness, as i will be adding and updating photos often.

vet update 8/28/15:
today has been extremely emotional. we took Eve into the vet early this morning, and received a call, saying things were not looking good, due to the long list of troubles Eve has. We ran blood work on her, and thankfully, it came back looking good. As of right now, we are fighting things one at a time. First things first is to get some weight on this gal. She might never look nice and chunky, due to age and health problems, but shes gained 2.5 lbs in a few days being with us. Her teeth are all infected, which she was put on antibiotics to help with that, and might need a dental cleaning. She will be on a soft diet for the rest of her life. Her lymph nodes are enlarged, and because her blood work was good, they believe its cancer (she has some large lumps on her mammary glands). Cancer and heart worms were the biggest blow of the day, but if we can maintain her quality of life, she will remain here, in hospice fostering. She does have lots of obstacles to overcome, and possibly some surgeries (spay/dental/cancer), so if you'd like to make a donation, it would be much appreciated by this little gal.

vet update 9/22/15
Great news!! Eve-a (my boys have changed her name a bit, after they watched the movie Wall-E) has gained enough weight to have surgery! We will first be getting her spayed and tumors removed, on Oct 6th! No urinary infections and no enlarged heart. She looks good, considering all her known medical issues and everything is on the right track. Now to get funding to get this gal better so she can live out her golden years comfortably!!
