In the U.S., a notary (also commonly known as a notario or notario público in the Hispanic community) is not an attorney and cannot prepare, choose, or give advice on immigration documents. That’s not legal, and it’s not something I do. That’s simply not who I am.
In Texas, as a notary public, we are very limited on what we can do. In fact, the FTC even warns people to stay away from notary publics who claim they can help with immigration legal matters, it's often a scam.
