There has some Interest in converting the old "admin" building on Greenbriar to a hamburger hut for use by golfers as well as families with youngsters. I support this because most Panorama residents do not play golf nor do they dine at the Panorama golf clubhouse. Moving our casual food and beverage service out of the clubhouse would free it up for more profitable event opportunities (e.g., weddings and large group meetings) and would be more visible to people who have never chosen to enter the clubhouse for any activity. This includes people outside of Panorama.

The City has postponed our municipal election from May 2 to November 3. I am picking up my yard signs and hopefully will return them to my supporter's yards this fall. Drop me a note if you know of someone who would like to have a sign. Thanks.

Several years ago, I spent many months researching and talking to TxDOT about traffic noise from I-45. I started out thinking we needed a wall along the 21st hole cart path on either side of the lake spillway, but gradually came to the conclusion that even a 20-foot wall (estimated cost $250,000) would do us very little good because our houses are so far from the freeway. What we really need is something called Quiet Pavement where they groove the driving surface to eliminate tire noise. We could get a mile of Quiet Pavement, from FM 830 all the way to where Panorama Drive meets the frontage road (all southbound lanes) for the same price as a 700-foot wall along the 21st hole. The catch is that TxDOT is not going to do this for us unless we pitch in and cover some of the expense. Some day, when we get the Golf Club on a break even or profitable basis, we can go back to TxDOT and work a deal that will benefit many of our homeowners. Maybe we can partner with Woodlands Hills when they start building homes north of 830 near the freeway.

I have written and produced 50 issues of the Panorama Village Voice newsletter since I created it in July of 2016 for two reasons: 1. To communicate what is happening in our City, and 2. To promote Panorama Village as a great place to live and raise a family. I do this without compensation from the City. I do not use it for political or personal reasons, for me or anyone associated with the City. It's purely a communications tool to get the word out and minimize rumors and incorrect information. The more we know about things, the better we can feel about living here. Panorama Village is unique among Montgomery County cities and neighborhoods.

Lake Panorama is a nice amenity for Panorama Village that is, in my opinion, vastly under utilized. I'd like to build a dock along Cherry Hill that could be used for fishing or kayaking. We might also consider some day creating a small park at the north end of the lake for families with small children.

Membership in the Panorama Lions has been booming -- we've added 15 new members in the past 18 months. It's a great way to make new friends and do good things for the community. Let me know of you're interested in finding out more about Lions.

My job on the Fourth of July Committee has been to coordinate the evening program. Tell me how you'd like to make it better.

Welcome to my "Bob Lamons for City Council" page where I'll be posting thoughts and ideas about ways to make Panorama Village the best place to live in a Montgomery County. I hope you'll get involved in the discussion, and I especially hope you'll vote on May 2.
