✨blood from both mom and baby pass through the placenta but never mixes
✨identical twins can sometimes share a placenta
✨it’s the only “disposable” organ
✨the placenta prepares your body to breastfeed 🤱🏻

The placenta is responsible for so many more cool things! I chose to name my doula business after the placenta and breastfeeding which can also be referred to as tree of life because mother and baby connect at the breast and she is the source of life and nourishment for her baby 🖤

👶🏼Umbilical Cord👶🏼

✨Fun fact ✨ 10-30% of babies are born with the cord around their necks or Nuchal cord but thanks to a built in mechanism called Whartons jelly it’s usually not a problem!

The Three jobs of the cord
• It delivers oxygen to baby
• It delivers nutrients to baby
• It removes blood rich in carbon dioxide & removes blood depleted in nutrients
