Korie & Kacie's Kare Kitties

In honor of our two little angels, we are hosting an on-going kitty drive in hopes that they will provide comfort and cuddles to children in the hospital.

After three years of trying to have a second child, our daughter, Korie, was born with long QT syndrome. She struggled through her short six months of life, having a pace-maked placed immediately after birth as well as received daily medications to help keep her heart functioning as properly as possible. Tragically and unexpectedly, Korie passed away in her sleep on October 7, 2013 from a cardiac

arrest. We knew we wanted another child, not only for ourselves, but also for our older daughter Brodie to have a sibling to grow up with. Of course, we didn't want to experience such devastation ever again. We made the decision to undergo IVF treatment which would give us the opportunity to use gene selection to ensure a healthy embryo that would not carry the Long QT syndrome gene, like our first two daughters and myself do. After two rounds of IVF, our rainbow baby Kacie was born on July 29, 2015. Kacie was born just as we expected- healthy, beautiful and perfect in every single way. While traveling for a wedding on October 16th, 2015, we once again received the most unimaginable phone call and were told our perfectly healthy baby had passed away in her sleep at just 2 1/2 months old. We are once again faced with extreme devastation and pain, and our hearts are completely crushed. We want to do something to honor and remember our sweet angels. Korie & Kacie's Kare Kitties has been developed to not only honor them, but also to provide other children in the hospital with something to comfort and cuddle with. We chose kitties because they are playful and active, and both of our angels loved our cats snuggles and cuddles. We have chosen a specific kitty that we feel fits our mission perfectly. This particular kitty is a colorful rainbow- just like Kacie, the heart on its chest represents our love for Korie and Kacie. The butterfly wings are special to Korie and Kacie because it is a symbol of life after death. We would appreciate your help in launching this drive for our angels. Please considered donating to this family. I know Jesse Jay the dad from back in the day. Also small world as we were leaving with our little bundle of joy they were wheeling him, his babies mom, and daughter into the room next to us. At that time I had no idea what was happening only to later find out baby Scarlett would be passing. Every little bit counts.

As you all know we loss the girls this month and this month is hard for our family. We usually collect Kare Kitties this month which bring us much joy to receive them. I have been avoiding making this post because they are no longer making the kitties we collect for this project. We still want to collect something in honor of the girls but what that is, is still undecided and unclear. So for this year we are going to team up with another non profit that is super close to me and we are going to collect Kare Puppies. They have the same purpose as us and donate the puppies to cardiac babies in honor of their son Raiden. Their goal this year is to collect 20 puppies. I know that we can help them exceed this goal because we always collect 30+ kitties every year. The puppies will still come to Brodie and she will still take pictures with them just as we do with the kitties. I hope everyone is still willing to support us during this time.
