Yesterday, we proudly celebrated the official naming of the Dr. Richard A. Tapia Bridge.

A trailblazer in STEM, educator, and mentor, Dr. Tapia made an extraordinary impact through his work at Rice University and his commitment to expanding opportunities for students. As the first Hispanic elected to the National Academy of Engineering, his legacy will inspire generations to come.

Great tour of the Sam Houston Tollway Ship Channel Bridge replacement project with Zachry Construction Corporation yesterday! Impressive to see the progress firsthand and learn more about this major infrastructure project. About 150 workers are currently on site, with completion projected by the end of 2027.
