Parents, Guardians, and Residents,
This post is to address the increasing number of juveniles operating electric scooters, mini bikes and golf carts on public streets, sidewalks, and other areas where their use is not permitted.
Please be advised that operating electric scooters, mini bikes and golf carts in violation of The Texas Transportation code creates a serious safety hazard for riders, pedestrians, and motorists. These devices are not toys and, when operated improperly or unlawfully, can result in severe injury or property damage.
Effective immediately, enforcement actions will be taken. Riders found operating electric scooters, mini bikes and golf carts in violation of the law will be issued citations. In addition, the scooter, mini bike and golf cart may be towed and impounded at the owner’s expense.
Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to speak with their children about the legal requirements and safety concerns associated with these devices. Ultimately, parents and guardians may be held responsible for fines, towing fees, and related costs.
Our goal is not punitive enforcement, but the safety of our community—especially our youth. Your cooperation in addressing this matter is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your attention and support.

Residents,
Just a friendly reminder the proper protocol for contacting Clear Lake Shores Police Department with non-emergency inquiries and emergencies.
Non-emergency contact:** The non-emergency number 281-538-0659 (option #2) goes directly to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch. When you call this number, you will be asked for your name, phone number, and address. This information is used to generate a call-for-service so an officer can be dispatched with pertinent details such as the type of call, location, and caller information.
Emergency contact:* In case of an emergency, please dial **911**. Depending on cell tower routing, your call may be answered by Kemah Police Department (Dispatch) first. They will typically collect the same information and then transfer you to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch as needed.
