Get ready, Houston! Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson is joining us for Houston Africa Day — and it’s going to be powerful. As the son of civil rights legends and a bold advocate for justice, Congressman Jackson brings a legacy of activism, leadership, and vision to our city. He’s here to celebrate the strength of the African diaspora and commemorate the incredible legacies of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Congressman Sylvester Turner, two trailblazers who have transformed Houston through decades of fearless public service. Don’t miss this unforgettable moment of culture, community, and civic pride!

Representation Matters!

TV has the power to shape narratives, and Bob Hearts Abishola has done just that—bringing the stories of immigrants and healthcare workers to primetime in a way that is both heartfelt and authentic.

A huge thank you to for their research on Black immigrants in TV and the importance of accurate representation. And of course, gratitude to for portraying Abishola with such pride, humor, and depth—reflecting the real-life experiences of so many Nigerian nurses in the U.S. healthcare system.

When our stories are told with truth and dignity, it not only resonates with those who see themselves on screen but also educates and enriches audiences everywhere. Here’s to more representation, more stories, and more voices being heard!
