Today we had the honor of putting together 100 goodie bags for the seniors at Wesley Community Center 💛

This effort would not have been possible without the generosity of everyone who donated and the amazing volunteers who took time out of their day to help assemble each bag. Your support truly made a difference.

A special thank you to our Mentorship Committee for organizing and leading this meaningful initiative—we appreciate the heart and dedication behind it.

And to the incredible team at Wesley Community Center, thank you for all that you do each and every day to serve and uplift our Houston community. We are grateful for you and proud to support your mission.

We are proud to celebrate this year’s scholarship recipients!

This year, we awarded over $43,000 in scholarships to outstanding and deserving students from all three Houston law schools. These future leaders represent the very best of our legal community, and we are honored to support them on their journey.

A special congratulations and thank you to our Scholarship Committee Co-Chairs, Lisa Luz Parker and Daniel Ávila II, who oversaw a thoughtful and competitive application process to help identify this year’s recipients. Their leadership and dedication were critical to this effort.

Investing in these students is an investment in the future of our profession—and our community.

We invite you to support our mission of advancing Hispanics in the legal profession by sponsoring or attending our upcoming Gala. Learn more here: https://www.hisbahouston.com/38th-Annual-Gala

🎉 Congratulations to Daniel Ávila II!

We’re proud to celebrate Daniel Ávila II, who was recently honored in Las Vegas at the HNBA Corporate Counsel Conference as part of the HNBA Top Lawyers Under 40.

Daniel is a Senior Associate at Reed Smith LLP and a commercial litigator who continues to make a meaningful impact both inside and outside the courtroom. He also serves as Co-Deputy of HNBA Region XII, Pro Bono Head of the Houston office, and Global Associate Chair of Reed Smith’s Latinx inclusion group, UNIDOS.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Daniel consistently gives his time and energy to the community — especially through mentorship, leadership, and service. His dedication to lifting others up is something we are incredibly proud of.

We’re so happy to have Daniel as part of the HisBA family, and we can’t wait to see all the great things ahead for him.

👏 Congratulations again, Daniel — this recognition is truly well deserved!
