Weโ€™re excited to share that more than 200 vaccines were administered at our annual community vaccine clinic this past Saturday!

In addition to vaccinations, we also hosted a mini health fair to highlight the many programs, resources, and services available through the Hudson Health Department. It was a great opportunity to connect with residents, answer questions, and share more about the work we do throughout the year to support the health of our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out, as well as the staff and partners who helped make the clinic such a success! ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸฆŸ West Nile Virus Update โ€“ Additional Positive Mosquito Sample & Spraying

Another mosquito sample collected in Hudson has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV).

In response, the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project will conduct additional mosquito spraying in the affected area tomorrow, September 16, after 7:45 PM. Rain date: September 17.

๐Ÿ“ Please see the attached map and street list for the treatment area.

The presence of WNV-positive mosquitoes does not mean that a person in Hudson has been diagnosed with West Nile Virus, but it is an important reminder that mosquitoes are still active and residents should continue taking precautions.

Help protect yourself and your family by using an EPA-registered mosquito repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants when possible, avoiding outdoor activity around dusk and dawn, and eliminating standing water around your home.

Please share this update with neighbors, particularly those who live in or near the treatment area.

๐ŸฆŸ Mosquito season isnโ€™t over yet โ€” continue to protect yourself from bites!

โš ๏ธ Important Public Health Update - KRATOM โš ๏ธ

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has issued an emergency order restricting the sale of kratom products statewide. The order took effect on August 28, 2026 and applies to kratom products in all forms.

Kratom is a substance made from the leaves of the Mitragyna speciosa tree and is commonly sold as powders, capsules, gummies, tablets, teas, drink mixes, and liquid extracts or โ€œshots.โ€ Some products may also contain concentrated 7-OH, which can have powerful opioid-like effects and may increase the risk of addiction, dependence, and withdrawal.

Kratom products can vary in strength and ingredients, making their effects difficult to predict. Kratom use has been associated with dependence and withdrawal, nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, increased heart rate and blood pressure, seizures, liver problems, and substance use disorder.

Help us keep Hudson informed and safe! If you see kratom products being sold locally, please contact the Hudson Health Department so we can follow up with education and enforcement as appropriate.

Residents are encouraged to review the attached information and can also learn more at www.mass.gov/kratom.
