We had a chance today to visit with the crew from General Services that covers the grounds south of Jericho Tpk. and got to see their operation at work. Thank you to a great team.

We had the chance tonight to ride shotgun on a plow with a member of our Highway Team and got a first-hand look at the challenge of safely navigating our roads and clearing snow in the toughest of conditions. Thank you to all who left their homes this evening/morning in an effort to ensure safe travel for the residents of our town.

While the holidays are often characterized by generosity and kindness, there are certain stories that truly epitomize the spirit of the season. We saw just such an example this week as a group of genuine "Guardian Angels" learned that hundreds of toys destined for children in need had been stolen. The second the heartbreaking story hit the news Kevin Thourbourne contacted Michael Brown (owner of Empire Auto Group) who said "take my credit card and buy the kids whatever they need." That initial call was followed by a conversation with Deputy Inspector Stephen Rohdes who made it clear that the officers of our Second Precinct were committed to ensuring a Merry Christmas for anyone who needed assistance during this holiday season. The dedicated team then partnered with Debbie Rimler who offered the Tri-CYA as a staging area for the hundreds of replacement gifts. Remarkably, the story became even more heartwarming when Half Hollow Hills West senior Madison Kayton called our office to offer dozens of children's books as replacement gifts.
There was something truly remarkable about this initiative and these people who refused to let the cruelty of others define our community. Instead, we are left with a story of compassion and resilience, which speaks volumes about the Huntington family.

Merry Christmas from the Bennardo family.
We learned yesterday that one of the bedrock principles of Kwanzaa is respect towards, and reflections of, our community's elders. What better place to celebrate than the Senior Center and what better tribute than Kim Edwards-Jerideau's touching tribute to her grandmother, the late Dolores Thompson.

This was certainly an Eagle Scout weekend in Huntington as Saturday's Court of Honor was followed by a Sunday trifecta. The Centerport Fire House was literally brimming with excitement as Sebastian Garvey, Peter Rocco, and Aaron Alonso- Tittmann took the Eagle Oath before a proud crowd of fellow scouts, family members, and invited guests. We join in congratulating our newest Eagles and look forward to following their years of continued success.
