Wednesday I chaired my last Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) meeting before my retirement. Mayor Battle presented me with a proclamation from the City of Huntsville, proclaiming March 1, 2026 Mac McCutcheon Day! That will be my first official day of retirement. Councilwoman Watkins brought cake for us to enjoy after our meeting. I really appreciate all the kindness shown to me as I transition to this new chapter in my life. I have been truly blessed to work with this group on transportation issues that provide a better quality of life for our citizens!!!

It was an honor to provide the invocation at today's 90th Annual Membership Meeting hosted by Huntsville Madison County Chamber. The keynote speaker, Steve Lerch, spoke about innovation and how it doesn't start with technology but with people. Our community is special because of the people who choose to live here. In Madison County we all share a common goal, which is to see our community grow and prosper!

CLARIFICATION - MADISON COUNTY COURTHOUSE DELAYS 2 HOURS - COUNTY OFFICES:

Some reports are indicating that the Madison County Courthouse will be closed today. That information is not accurate. The Madison County Courthouse will delay opening for COUNTY OFFICES/EMPLOYEES by two hours and will open at 10:00am.

-COURT SYSTEM
Presiding Judge Donna Pate has issued the following order:
Because of conditions caused by sever winter weather, it is ordered that the Circuit Courts, District Courts, Clerk's Offices, and Court Administrator's Office will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 8:30am.

-JUROR INSTRUCTIONS
Jurors originally scheduled for Monday, January 26 should report for Jury Duty on Tuesday, January 27 at 8:00am.

-TRASH COLLECTION
Monday's trash collection may be delayed due to icy road conditions. We ask customers to place their green garbage cans at the road as normal. Please leave them there until Madison County Waste Control crews can safely run their routes.

As the sunsets and the temperatures drop we expect some roads to refreeze overnight into tomorrow morning. Icy and slick conditions are widespread. Please do not get out unless absolutely necessary. Use extreme caution and stay safe!!!

*Bankhead Parkway
*Memorial Parkway overpass (specifically at Martin Road and I565)
*I565 exits leading to Memorial Parkway
