This morning, I had the opportunity to spend time with women from around the world at Outreach International discussing how to Thrive in Transition. 💜

Menopause affects women around the world, yet it still isn’t discussed as openly or as often as it should be. Creating space for these conversations helps women share experiences, learn from one another, and feel less alone during this stage of life.

I’m also proud that Outreach International has its roots right here in Independence, Missouri. This international nonprofit works alongside communities around the world, helping people develop the skills and resources to address the challenges of poverty and build lasting solutions.

It’s wonderful to see an organization that began in our community making a difference around the world and representing Independence on an international stage.

Thank you to Outreach International for bringing women together for meaningful conversations and for the work you do every day!

Today, I was proud to attend the ribbon cutting for the Independence Surgery Center! 🦷🎉

Created by local doctors, this dental surgery center will expand access to dental procedures under anesthesia for patients who have limited options for care, including those who rely on Medicaid.

This is a much-needed resource for Independence. Too often, patients wait months for treatment while living with pain, struggling to eat, or delaying necessary dental care that can be a critical part of preparing for life-saving medical procedures.

Oral health is connected to overall health, including heart health. Access to dental care is about so much more than a smile. It's about health, dignity, and quality of life.

One of the most rewarding parts of today was seeing this business grow from a dream into reality. I'm grateful to the local doctors who saw a need in our community and worked to make this vision a reality for the people who need it most.

Congratulations to the entire Independence Surgery Center team! Welcome to Independence, and thank you for investing in our community. ❤️

TONIGHT!

📣 Our city budget affects everything from our streets and sidewalks to public safety, parks, and the services we rely on every day.

We’re taking the budget town halls on the road to all four districts so residents can learn more about the city’s budget, ask questions, share concerns, and help us understand what matters most to our neighborhoods.

📍 District 3 Budget Town Hall
📅 Wednesday, October 21
⏰ 6:00 PM
📌 Midwest Genealogy Center

Whether you have questions about where our tax dollars go, what projects are planned, or how budget decisions affect your neighborhood, please join us!

I hope to see my District 3 neighbors there! 💙

🏈 We know the Chiefs play the Raiders on Sunday… so we promise you won’t miss too much of the game! 😂❤️💛

📣 REMINDER: 3rd District INDECLEANUP is this Sunday! 🧹🌳

📅 Sunday, October 4 | 1–4 p.m.
📍 Waterfall Park

We’re rolling up our sleeves to help trim vegetation and clean up around Waterfall Park! Come join your neighbors and help us show some love for where we live. ❤️

And a special shout-out to our neighbors in The Cliffs! Their HOA had the wonderful idea of asking neighbors to bring donations for our Independence Animal Shelter to the cleanup event. Such a great idea!

🐾 Current shelter needs include:
• Dry dog and cat food
• Toys for dogs and cats
• Towels and blankets are always needed, too!

Come lend a hand, bring a donation if you can, and then head home to catch the rest of the game! 🏈
