There’s something utterly amazing about the first time you welcome a child into your home. From the memories you make together to the way you help them overcome the trauma they’ve experienced, the path ahead of you is going to be full of twists, turns, and lots of surprises. When many of our foster children come to our agency, they’ve experienced things that many of us never may have imagined were possible. They need parents like you to help them turn things around, to comfort them when they’re feeling sad, and to not get upset when they get a little bit of mud or dirt on that coat you just bought them. It’s in those types of moments that you can make a true difference by showing them grace even in the midst of mistakes.
