As the Chair of the National Debt Crisis Task Force of State Financial Officers Foundation, we are building support for Congress to tackle our debt problem head-on by adopting the achievable goal to bring down deficit spending from 6% to 3% of our GDP over the next 10 years — and then get us back to a balanced budget. We can do this, and we must!

🌟Proud of our State. Check this out —> “Indiana’s balanced budget amendment is widely regarded as the gold standard…By following Indiana’s example, other states can strengthen budget discipline, model responsible fiscal governance, and prepare for a future in which the federal government may provide far less financial assistance….America’s national debt has now exceeded $40 trillion and continues to grow…Washington should look to the states as they continue to innovate and show there are policy solutions available to protect the American taxpayer.”

It was deeply encouraging to listen to the House Budget Committee’s Field Hearing on the massive problem of the $40T national debt led by Chairman Jodey Arrington. He said that “this is the most important conversation… that is going on today in these United States of America.” (link to his remarks below) It was an intellectually honest discussion about the reality of this national economic and security threat and the need for a bipartisan plan to get America’s financial house in order for the sake of our nation’s future — and our children and grandchildren.

As Chairwoman of the National Debt Crisis Task Force of State Financial Officers Foundation, we are working to build a major movement of support from the states to restore America’s fiscal solvency.
