HOW A NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION LEADS TO DIPLOMA AND SUCCESS
On June 7, 2025, just one day before her birthday, LaTasha Hawkins crossed the stage as a graduate of Christel House DORS the adult high school. It was, she says, the best birthday gift she could have given herself. For LaTasha, finishing high school had once felt out of reach. As a teenager, she drifted away from school, influenced by the wrong crowd and a growing belief that education simply wasn’t for her at the time. Like many adult learners, life moved forward before her diploma did. That changed with a conversation—and a New Year’s resolution. Encouraged by her cousin, LaTasha learned about the Christel House DORS program, and together they committed to returning to school and earning their diplomas. What began as a goal quickly became a turning point.
