Democratic Socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few.

We are a political and activist organization, not a party; through campus and community-based chapters DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people.

The IPS school board commissioners scolded community members instead of considering why meeting attendance is down.

Join CINDSA and help us make actual change in our schools instead of performative feedback gathering. Save the date for the IPEC meeting June 22nd.

It is with great sadness, but also great admiration, that we share that our comrade and founding member of this chapter, Brad Lorton, passed away yesterday afternoon. We will share information about services and arrangements as soon as we have them.

Brad valiantly battled heart failure for some time. Ever the leader and elder statesman, Brad even ran for chapter co-chair recently, and reminded us of the importance of staying focused and staying in solidarity with one another.

There is not enough we can say to properly honor Brad in this moment, so instead we are sharing the words of his hero as we remember Brad’s persistent dedication to the socialist movement and ready ourselves to carry on his legacy:

“Wherever death may surprise us, let it be welcome, provided that this, our battle cry, may have reached some receptive ear and another hand may be extended to wield our weapons and other men be ready to intone the funeral dirge with the staccato singing of the machine-guns and new battle cries of war and victory.”

CINDSA condemns the attack on Lebanon as a flagrant violation of the bilateral ceasefire between the US and Iran and, also, as a shameless continuation of the illegitimate State of Israel's agenda to destabilize the Middle East and undermine world peace.

AND IPS leadership has been completely nontransparent and shady about the layoffs like simply not communicating, not putting anything in writing, and misleading their own workers. It's been a slap in the face to the teachers that make the entire show run. This is why unions are critical and why CINDSA's Fully Funded Fully Public Committee is working to support those most impacted by privatization and complicit leadership.
