We had a wonderful time at this year’s annual Touch-a-Truck event! Officer Baxter and Lieutenant Caswell, along with K-9 Boca, had the opportunity to spend the day visiting with children and families while representing the Vincennes Police Department.

Kids were able to explore our police vehicles and equipment, collect stickers, meet K-9 Boca, and get a closer look at some of the tools we use each day. Beyond the vehicles and equipment, the best part of the day was simply spending time with our community and seeing the excitement and smiles from so many young faces.

We are thankful for every family who stopped by to visit and for the opportunity to create positive memories with the youth in our community. Thank you to everyone who made this year’s event possible and for inviting us to be a part of it. We look forward to next year!

Meet Briggs, this week’s VPD Pet of the Week! Briggs is a 9-year-old, laid-back and loving dog who has been waiting at the Vincennes Animal Shelter for approximately four months.

He enjoys spending time outdoors, does well with other dogs, and is good with children, although his compatibility with cats is unknown. Briggs prefers not to be confined and can be frightened by loud noises, particularly thunderstorms, so he would benefit from a home where he can feel comfortable and secure.

With his gentle and easygoing personality, Briggs is ready for the opportunity to leave shelter life behind and become a loyal companion to a family of his own. If you believe Briggs could be the right addition to your family, consider stopping by the Vincennes Animal Shelter to meet him!

Pictured below are Briggs and Captain Bible (Badge #190).

After working closely with the Knox County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and reviewing the incoming weather forecast, the City of Vincennes has made the difficult decision to cancel Autumn on Main and the scheduled fireworks display due to anticipated rain and weather conditions. The event WILL NOT be rescheduled.

While we are disappointed to cancel an event that our community looks forward to, the safety of our residents, visitors, vendors, volunteers, and event personnel must remain our highest priority.

We appreciate Knox County EMA for working closely with the city to monitor the weather and help us make the safest decision for everyone involved.

The City of Vincennes would also like to thank all the organizations, businesses, vendors, volunteers, and community partners who have worked to prepare for Autumn on Main. We greatly appreciate the time and effort that goes into making these community events possible.

We appreciate the public’s understanding.

🍂 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗢, 𝗢𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗕𝗘𝗥! 🍂

October has arrived, bringing cooler temperatures, changing leaves, fall festivals, football games, bonfires, pumpkin patches, and many of the traditions that make this time of year special.

As our community enjoys the season, we encourage everyone to keep safety in mind. With shorter daylight hours and increased pedestrian activity, remember to slow down, buckle up, remain attentive behind the wheel, and use extra caution when traveling after dark.

Enjoy the season, look out for one another, and have a safe October! 🍁🎃🚔

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the Kentucky State Police, the family and loved ones of Trooper Hayden Phillips, and his fellow troopers during this incredibly difficult time.

Today, we face one of the most difficult moments an agency can endure as we announce the loss of one of our own. Trooper Hayden Phillips, Unit 369, made the ultimate sacrifice while
patrolling I-65 in Warren County. He was assigned to Post 3 Bowling Green and was a graduate of Cadet Class 103. His dedication to duty and commitment to the commonwealth will not
be forgotten.
Our hearts break for Trooper Phillips’ family, loved ones, and fellow troopers as we grieve this tremendous loss. We will carry his memory with us, honor the life he lived and the badge he wore, and stand together as an agency to support this family in the days ahead.
-Colonel Phillip Burnett, Jr.
